A mechanical malfunction in a truck resulted in a fatal motorcycle accident in Guatemala, claiming the life of a 24-year-old woman set to be married, and leaving her fiancé with severe injuries. The tragedy occurred mere days before the couple’s impending wedding ceremony.

Madelyn Rosely Caracun Perez and her soon-to-be husband, 29-year-old Davilson Gesell Canimac Miranda, were involved in the accident on December 4. They were delivering wedding invitations by motorcycle in Chicacao, a town in the Suchitepequez department of Guatemala.

Local authorities reported that a faulty transmission part from a nearby truck had dislodged, striking the motorcycle the couple was riding. Perez was ejected from the motorcycle and was pronounced dead at the scene. Miranda was seriously injured and immediately taken to a hospital.

The couple, as reported by People, had scheduled their wedding for December 14, 2024. Following the tragic incident, family members gathered at the accident site to pay respects. They are now urging a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the event.

The local community has started organizing to aid the affected families with the unexpected expenses. A fundraising initiative is being put together to help cover the cost of Miranda’s ongoing medical treatment and the funeral expenses for Perez.

An investigation into the truck’s mechanical failure has been initiated by local law enforcement. They are examining how the transmission part became dislodged. The identity of the truck driver and the company that owns the vehicle have not been disclosed to the public.

Miranda is still being closely monitored by doctors during his stay in the hospital. The family has asked for privacy during this difficult time, while continuing to demand a thorough investigation into the incident.
