Pregnant TV Star Tragically Dies at 33

Angy Morad, a Syrian actress and former Miss Asia World, has passed away at the age of 33 due to complications arising from a viral infection she contracted during her second pregnancy.

Morad was rushed to the intensive care unit in late January after her health rapidly declined. She had been fighting pneumonia before her hospitalization and died from her illness on Sunday, February 9, 2025, after weeks of medical treatment.

In the days leading up to her death, Morad posted a distressing message on her Facebook page. She wrote, “I am dying, forgive me,” alerting her followers to the severity of her condition.

Her husband, Samer Hakky, kept fans updated about her critical condition via social media posts. He wrote, “Angy is in a difficult situation between life and death. Please pray for her.”

Shortly after her passing, Morad’s mother confirmed the tragic news on social media, expressing her grief with the words, “May God have mercy on you, my daughter.”

Reports suggest that Morad’s health issues started with body inflammation, for which she was recommended to undergo medical tests in Lebanon. Initial tests reportedly failed to detect any virus, but a minor infection allegedly escalated into a serious one that Morad did not adequately address. The complication gravely intensified during her pregnancy, leading to severe lung issues.

Born in Damascus, Syria, in 1992, Morad graduated from the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts. She initiated her acting career in 2007 and earned fame through her performances in Syrian drama series like “Baqaa Daw 13” and “Al-Gharib.”

In 2017, Morad achieved international recognition when she was crowned Miss Asia World. After taking a brief break from the entertainment industry in 2020, she returned to acting in the series Souq Al Haramia, which began airing in January 2025.

There is ambiguity around the circumstances of Morad’s death – whether she died during pregnancy or childbirth. Some reports suggest that she died while pregnant, while others indicate that both she and her newborn passed away during delivery.

Her mother, Annie Orfalla, reportedly disclosed that Morad was recommended to take certain medications for the inflammation but was apprehensive, leading to a severe infection that quickly deteriorated her health.

Before her illness, Morad had a successful career as a television personality in the Middle East spanning over 15 years. She appeared in various Syrian television shows and garnered a significant fan base.

The Facebook post where Morad revealed her deteriorating health condition caused widespread concern among her fans and became viral after her death.

Morad is survived by her husband, Samer Hakky, and their four-year-old daughter. Hakky publicly expressed his sorrow on social media following her death.

Her passing has left a void in the Syrian entertainment industry, with peers and fans paying tribute to her talent and career contributions. Morad’s death is a significant loss for Syrian television, where she had become a prominent figure due to her various dramatic roles.

Morad’s death follows recent reports of other influencers and content creators who have died due to health complications. Brazilian influencer Laleska Alexandre reportedly died from complications of an ovarian infection. Beauty influencer Lilian Martins Gomes, known as Lili Spada to her million Instagram followers, passed away from cancer at the age of 42 in December 2024.

The news of Morad’s death has garnered global attention, with media outlets worldwide reporting on the circumstances surrounding her passing. Her final message to fans has touched many, highlighting her popularity and the shocking abruptness of the young actress’ death.
