President Donald Trump expressed in an interview broadcast on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, that his youngest son, Barron, might pursue a career in technology rather than entering politics or the real estate sector, which are paths his father has taken.
During a conversation with Fox News host Laura Ingraham, Trump spoke proudly about his son’s technical skills, just a day before Barron’s 19th birthday.
“Maybe technology,” Trump answered when Ingraham inquired whether Barron’s talents lay in politics or business.
Trump recounted a story about Barron’s computer abilities that left him impressed, although it did not have the same impact on viewers.
“How’d you do that?” Trump remembered asking Barron after observing his technical skills. Barron, according to the president, replied, “None of your business, Dad.”
“He’s got an unbelievable aptitude in technology,” Trump emphasized during the discussion.
Though Trump highlighted Barron’s technological abilities, he did not dismiss the possibility of a future in business for his son, who is a freshman at New York University’s Stern School of Business. “Barron’s a very smart guy,” the president added, indicating business could also be in Barron’s future.
Apart from his father’s comments on his tech skills, Barron has shown entrepreneurial interest. According to the New York Post, the 19-year-old previously started a luxury real estate company with two partners, though the business was later dissolved.
The venture, Trump, Fulcher & Roxburgh Capital Inc., was created last year but was paused shortly after Trump’s 2024 election win. The company, co-founded with Barron’s high school friend Cameron Roxburgh and luxury real estate expert Carter Fulcher, aimed to develop high-end properties and golf courses in western states such as Utah, Arizona, and Idaho.
“Overall, the trio plans to focus on high-end real estate projects, including golf courses and properties in Utah, Arizona, and Idaho,” reported the New York Post in January 2025. The publication also noted that President Trump reportedly offered his son private advice while the venture was independent.
Roxburgh had indicated that the company’s pause was to avoid election-related media scrutiny. The partners planned to restart the company in spring 2025, but recent reports from Curbed suggest those plans may have changed.
Barron’s classmate and business partner Roxburgh initially stated that the company would be relaunched in the spring, but later indicated that it was not happening after all. Barron’s duties as First Son may have temporarily put his business plans on hold.
Apart from his business ventures, Barron has been acknowledged for his political insights. His mother, First Lady Melania Trump, has commended her son’s ability to engage young male voters during his father’s 2024 presidential campaign against Kamala Harris.
Sources close to the Trump family describe Barron as having “an entrepreneurial mindset” and being “not shy about pursuing his career.” The same source mentioned that Barron is “interested in business in general, including developing properties, making money, and being involved in successful projects.”
There are concerns about potential conflicts of interest in any business ventures Barron might pursue during his father’s presidency. His family name and proximity to the White House could create opportunities for his business to “sell access” to those seeking influence.
Despite these concerns, Melania Trump is expected to guide her son as he navigates his career path, whether in technology, real estate, or another field entirely.
Barron’s enrollment in NYU’s Stern School of Business, where he is currently a freshman, suggests he is exploring the business world as his father highlights his technological talents. As he marked his 19th birthday on Thursday, March 20, Barron’s future remains open to various possibilities.
While Barron was offered the opportunity to serve as a delegate to the Republican National Convention in 2024, he declined due to prior commitments. Melania has stated she respects her son’s choices regarding his education and future plans.
For now, it appears that Barron Trump is keeping his options open, with potential career paths in technology and business remaining viable as he continues his education at NYU.
