Austin Police Department officers responded around midnight on Sunday to the 2300 block of Douglas Street in South Austin, where they found an adult male with “obvious signs of trauma,” according to local media reports. The victim was transported to a hospital where he later died from his injuries.
While police had not officially identified the victim as of Tuesday morning, Jones announced on Monday that the man was Jamie White, 36, a reporter for the controversial InfoWars website and network.
“We are deeply saddened to inform you that InfoWars Reporter Jamie White was brutally murdered around midnight Sunday night due, in part, to the policies of the Soros Austin, TX D.A. Jose Garza,” Jones wrote in a statement shared by the outlet.
Jones described White as InfoWars’ best writer and a “good friend” who had worked at the outlet for many years. In a broadcast posted to social media, Jones claimed that White was heading home from work when the incident occurred.
While Jones has publicly blamed local Democratic politicians, including Austin District Attorney José Garza, for creating conditions that he believes led to White’s death, he did not provide specific evidence for these claims. Jones specifically referenced budget cuts to the Austin Police Department and policies implemented by the district attorney’s office.
Kelly Kneale, identified as White’s sister, has offered a different perspective on the incident. According to reports from The Independent, Kneale stated that the killing was not a targeted attack but rather occurred when someone attempted to break into White’s car for the second time.
“Truly devoted to the truth,” was how White’s friend and author Chase Geiser described him, adding that White “honored the Spartan saying of coming home victorious or on his shield.”
White reportedly covered a range of topics for InfoWars, including politics, entertainment, and international affairs. His last social media post was reportedly a reshare of content from Elon Musk criticizing “legacy media propaganda.”
The scene of the incident was described in graphic terms by Jones in a Monday monologue, where he claimed there was “blood all over the parking lot.” According to KXAN, as shared on social media by Jones, the victim was found in an apartment complex parking lot, and investigators were seen retrieving evidence from a second-floor apartment.
The Austin Police Department has not released detailed information about the circumstances of the killing or potential suspects. The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities working to determine the exact sequence of events that led to White’s death.
