Star of Hit Series Found Dead at Age 44

Khadiyah “KD” Lewis, former star of VH1’s “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta,” died on May 30 at age 44, according to family members who confirmed her passing.

Lewis’ brother, Jamaal Lewis, confirmed the news to The Shade Room on June 5, stating that “this has been an extremely emotionally devastating time.” The family has requested privacy and has not disclosed a cause of death. The Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s Office indicated that Lewis was not a medical examiner case and provided no further information.

Another brother, Elijah Inegbedion, posted a heartfelt tribute on Facebook on June 2, expressing that Lewis left behind a legacy most individuals can only dream of. He indicated that Lewis always had his back and that he was eternally thankful for being her baby brother, noting she would forever remain in his mind and heart.

Lewis gained national attention through her appearances on the VH1 reality series during seasons three and four. She initially appeared in season three while dating rapper Yung Joc, whom she reportedly met while working in real estate. Their relationship became a prominent storyline on the show, with Lewis serving as both Joc’s real estate agent and personal assistant before their romantic involvement was revealed.

The reality star returned as a supporting cast member in season four, but by season five, the couple had reportedly ended their relationship. Their romance was marked by complications involving alleged infidelity and issues with the mothers of Joc’s children, which became central plot points during her time on the show.

Born on March 31, 1981, in Oklahoma City, Lewis was a graduate of North Springs High School in Atlanta and Florida A&M University. She established herself as a successful entrepreneur beyond her reality television appearances, describing herself on social media as an entrepreneur, speaker, consultant, accountant, and brand ambassador.

Lewis owned multiple businesses, including a real estate investment firm, a consulting agency, and a financial services company. Her professional endeavors demonstrated her commitment to building wealth and helping others succeed in the business world. According to her obituary, she served as a mentor to many, offering guidance and support to those aspiring to succeed professionally.

The entrepreneur lived in Atlanta for decades while maintaining ties to her native Oklahoma. Her last social media post was a 2018 selfie captioned about having a late lunch and movie. Her professional website is no longer in operation, and she had stepped away from a public social media presence in recent years.

Lewis is survived by her parents, Debra Body and David Clark Lewis Jr., sisters Rasheedah Lewis and Nia T. Hill, and brothers Jamaal Lewis and Ahmedu Elijah Inegbedion. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on June 14 at Earl M. Temple Memorial Chapel in Oklahoma City, where she will be laid to rest in her birthplace.

The family has organized a virtual memorial service via Zoom for June 14, 2025, to allow those whose lives she touched to celebrate her life from afar. They released a statement indicating their decision not to discuss the circumstances surrounding her death, instead focusing on providing an opportunity for people to honor her memory.

Fans of the show have shared memories and condolences on social media, recalling Lewis’ professional demeanor and memorable moments from her time on “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta.” Many remembered her eloquent speaking style and her ability to handle conflicts with other cast members, particularly during storylines involving Joc’s relationships with multiple women.

“Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta,” which premiered in 2012, is a spinoff from VH1’s original “Love & Hip Hop” series. The show documents rappers in Atlanta dealing with their careers and relationships. Season 13 is scheduled to air on MTV on July 8, featuring both returning cast members and new faces sharing their personal stories.
