Pakistani actress and model Humaira Asghar Ali was found dead in her Karachi apartment on July 8, 2025, with digital and forensic evidence suggesting she had been deceased since October 2024. The 32-year-old’s decomposed body was discovered when a court-appointed bailiff arrived to execute an eviction order due to unpaid rent.
The discovery occurred around 3:15 p.m. when the bailiff, accompanied by police, broke open the door to Ali’s fourth-floor apartment in the Ittehad Commercial area. The apartment was locked from the inside, with the balcony door also secured from within, leading investigators to initially rule out foul play.
Deputy Inspector General South Asad Raza provided crucial timeline evidence regarding Ali’s death. The expiry dates of food and drinks in her refrigerator were from September 2024, while her phone’s last outgoing and incoming activity dated back to October 2024. Both SIM cards in her phone had been inactive since that time, and electricity to the apartment was disconnected around the same period due to non-payment of bills.
Digital records revealed Ali’s last text message was from a ride-hailing service, and her final WhatsApp message was viewed on October 7, 2024. A message sent by her stylist, Danish Maqsood, on October 20 remained unread. Her last Instagram post was made on September 30, 2024, with her final Facebook post occurring on September 11, 2024.
The preliminary post-mortem confirmed the body was in an advanced stage of decomposition, making it difficult to determine the exact cause of death. Police Surgeon Dr. Summaiya Syed conducted the autopsy and collected multiple surface samples from the scene for laboratory analysis. Foul play has not been ruled out as authorities await toxicology and forensic reports.
In a shocking development, Ali’s family at first refused to claim her body. Her father, Dr. Asghar Ali, a retired army doctor, told police they had severed ties with the actress. Her brother also declined to claim the body, though he eventually agreed to travel from Lahore to Karachi to take responsibility.
The entertainment industry responded with support when Ali’s family initially refused to claim her remains. The Actors Collective of Pakistan announced they would ensure Ali was laid to rest with dignity and respect. The organization stated they would take responsibility for her burial, emphasizing that no member of their industry family would be left behind.
Several prominent Pakistani actors volunteered to assist with the burial arrangements. Actress Sonya Hussyn was the first celebrity to offer help, followed by Yasir Hussain and Yashma Gill. The Sindh Culture Department also agreed to take responsibility for her burial if family members did not come forward.
Ali had reportedly become increasingly isolated in recent years, living alone for the past seven years and rarely seen in public except for work commitments. Despite her curated social media presence as a glamorous influencer, she had become withdrawn from public life in recent months. The apartment adjacent to hers was unoccupied during the time of her death, which explained why no neighbors reported any unusual odors.
The actress gained prominence after winning Veet Miss Super Model in 2014 and later appeared on ARY Digital’s reality show “Tamasha Ghar” in 2022. She featured in television dramas including “Just Married,” “Chal Dil Mere,” “Ehsaan Faramosh,” and “Guru.” Her film career included roles in the 2015 action-thriller “Jalaibee” and the 2021 film “Love Vaccine,” alongside actors Farhan Saeed and Sonya Hussyn.
Investigators recovered two mobile phones from the scene, which are undergoing forensic analysis. They are also exploring the possibility of a third phone, as no communication has been traced beyond October 2024. No CCTV footage was found at the building, and the investigation remains ongoing.
