A 45-year-old man from Bournemouth died after falling from an upper tier during an Oasis concert at Wembley Stadium on August 2, 2025. Lee Claydon was pronounced dead at the scene after being found with injuries consistent with a fall.
The Metropolitan Police responded to reports of an injured person at 10:19 PM, alongside venue medics and the London Ambulance Service. Officers found Claydon with injuries consistent with a fall, and despite medical efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident occurred during the band’s highly anticipated reunion tour, marking the first time brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher had performed together in 16 years. Saturday’s concert was the fourth of five sold-out shows at the 90,000-capacity stadium, with the performance scheduled to begin at 8:15 PM and end at 10:15 PM according to venue timings.
Witnesses described the scene as horrific. One concertgoer sitting in a lower tier reported seeing paramedics attempting to revive Claydon after what initially appeared to be a coat falling from the upper tier. The witness later realized it was a person who had fallen onto the concrete below.
Oasis released a statement expressing their shock at the tragedy. The band indicated they were shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic death of a fan at the show and extended their sincere condolences to the family and friends of the person involved.
Police acknowledged that the stadium was busy during the concert and believe it is likely that numerous people witnessed the incident or may have unknowingly captured it on mobile phone video footage. The Metropolitan Police have requested anyone with information that could help confirm what happened to contact them at 101, quoting reference number 7985/02AUG.
Claydon’s family has been identified through a GoFundMe campaign established by his brother Aaron. The fundraising page describes Lee as a loving family man who served as a role model to his son Harry. According to the family tribute, Claydon enjoyed outdoor activities, with fishing being one of his favorite hobbies. He also had a passion for music and played guitar, and regularly attended football games to support his nephew and other young family members.
The fundraiser indicates that Claydon left behind his son, father, partner, brothers, sisters, nephews and niece. The family described being turned upside down by the devastating and unexpected loss, noting that Lee would have done anything for any of his family members and was taken from them far too soon.
Despite the tragedy, Oasis proceeded with their scheduled concert on August 3. During Sunday night’s performance, the band dedicated the song “Live Forever” to those who could not be present. Liam Gallagher told the audience, “This one’s for all the people who can’t be here tonight, but who are here if you know what I mean.”
Wembley Stadium issued a statement confirming that medics, police and the London Ambulance Service had attended to the injured man. Stadium representatives expressed that their thoughts were with Claydon’s family, who had been informed of the death and were being supported by specially trained police officers.
The Oasis Live ’25 reunion tour began in Cardiff on July 4, 2025. The Wembley Stadium run consists of seven sold-out concerts, with the first five taking place from July 25 through August 3. The band is scheduled to continue their tour with performances in Edinburgh on August 8, 9 and 12, followed by shows in Ireland, Canada, the United States and Mexico. They will return to Wembley for two final London concerts on September 27 and 28.
The upper tiers of Wembley Stadium, where Claydon was reportedly seated, are located approximately 164 feet above ground level. The venue has a capacity of 90,000 people across three tiers, making it one of the largest stadiums in the United Kingdom.
Richard Ashcroft, who served as the support act for the concert, paid tribute on social media, expressing shock at hearing of the death and sending love to the family and friends of the deceased fan.
