TV Star Attacks Trump Voters: Ban Them All

Former Bravo reality television star Jennifer Welch has ignited widespread controversy after launching into an expletive-filled tirade on her podcast, demanding that supporters of President Donald Trump be banned from Mexican, Chinese, and Indian restaurants.

The interior designer, who appeared on Bravo’s “Sweet Home: Oklahoma” in 2017, made the inflammatory remarks during the August 8 episode of her “I’ve Had It” podcast, which she co-hosts with Angie Sullivan.

Welch specifically targeted what she termed “triple Trumpers” – individuals who voted for Trump in 2016, 2020, and 2024 – accusing them of hypocrisy for enjoying multicultural cuisine while supporting anti-immigration policies. She expressed frustration at seeing Trump supporters at ethnic restaurants, stating they had significant audacity to frequent establishments run by immigrants while supporting restrictive immigration policies.

During her rant, Welch indicated that Trump voters should be restricted to dining at Cracker Barrel exclusively. She argued that those who support what she characterized as anti-diversity, anti-LGBTQ, and anti-immigrant positions should not benefit from multiculturalism. The podcast host went further, suggesting that “White people that triple Trumped should be boycotted, banned from enjoying the best thing that America has to offer, which is multiculturalism.”

Welch’s comments included crude references to Trump supporters’ physical appearance, telling them to remove themselves from Mexican restaurants and directing them to Cracker Barrel instead. She also made disparaging remarks about the president, using vulgar language to describe him. Her co-host Sullivan agreed with the sentiment and expanded the criticism to include female Trump voters, suggesting they should forfeit financial independence and rely entirely on men.

The White House responded to Welch’s comments through spokesperson Abigail Jackson, who characterized the former reality star as being out of touch with reality. The administration’s response came amid broader discussions about Trump’s immigration policies, which have included executive orders related to immigration enforcement and ICE raids in major cities with large immigrant communities.

Social media users quickly condemned Welch’s remarks, with critics describing them as elitist, arrogant, and intolerant. Many pointed out the irony of her calling for tolerance while expressing highly divisive views. One commenter noted knowing many Black, Hispanic, and Indian individuals who voted for Trump three times, challenging Welch’s assumptions about Trump voters’ demographics.

Fox News host Greg Gutfeld responded to Welch’s comments during an episode of “The Five,” making derogatory remarks about her appearance and claiming he had never heard of her despite watching Bravo programming. Gutfeld accused her of “white virtue signaling” and suggested her proposed restaurant boycotts would actually harm minority business owners by reducing their customer base.

Welch, 52, gained recognition through “Sweet Home: Oklahoma,” which showcased her luxury interior design business in Oklahoma City. The show aired for two seasons beginning in 2017, featuring her life with family and friends. She operates Jennifer Welch Designs, focusing on high-end residential and commercial projects with particular attention to luxury kitchens and upscale offices.

The “I’ve Had It” podcast, which Welch co-hosts with Sullivan, typically addresses political and cultural issues from a liberal perspective, despite both hosts residing in the predominantly conservative Oklahoma City. The show’s format involves the hosts discussing topics they find frustrating or objectionable, with recent episodes focusing heavily on political themes.

The controversy surrounding Welch’s comments reflects broader political divisions regarding immigration policy, multiculturalism, and political discourse in America. Her remarks came as the Trump administration has implemented various immigration-related executive orders and enforcement actions, including expanded ICE operations in cities with significant immigrant populations.

The backlash against Welch’s statements has been swift and widespread, with critics from various political backgrounds condemning the divisive nature of her remarks.
