Beloved WWE Wrestling Star Dead at 58

The professional wrestling community is mourning the loss of Bobby Horne, who performed under the ring name Sir Mo and was best known as one-half of the popular tag team Men on a Mission. Horne died on October 19, 2025, at a Texas hospital at the age of 58, according to reports from multiple wrestling news outlets.

Gerald Horne, Bobby’s brother, confirmed his death to TMZ, revealing that kidney issues were the cause. The former WWE performer had been hospitalized for eight weeks before his passing, battling a severe blood infection and pneumonia while in intensive care. Throughout his hospitalization, his wife Denise remained by his side as he received round-the-clock medical attention.

The news first emerged through social media when Steve Stasiak of Book Pro Wrestlers shared a heartfelt eulogy on Facebook. Retired wrestler Leilani Kai also confirmed the news on Facebook, where she shared memories of working with Horne during their time together on the road.

“It breaks my heart to hear that Bobby Horne, better known to wrestling fans as Sir Mo of Men on a Mission, has passed away,” Kai wrote in her tribute. She described how Horne had welcomed her when she was new to the WWE circuit in the mid-1990s, recalling his kindness, constant smile, and respectful treatment of everyone he encountered.

Born on April 13, 1967, Horne made his mark in professional wrestling during the 1990s. He joined what was then known as the World Wrestling Federation in 1993, where he formed the Men on a Mission tag team with Nelson Frazier Jr., who wrestled under the names Mabel and later Viscera. The duo, managed by a character named Oscar, became one of the most colorful and beloved acts in WWE during the mid-1990s, known for their high-energy performances and positive messaging.

The tag team achieved championship success together, capturing the WWE tag team title. This remained Horne’s only championship during his tenure with the company. When the Men on a Mission storyline evolved and Mabel adopted the “King Mabel” persona, Horne stood by his partner’s side as Sir Mo, cementing his place in WWE history during that memorable era.

Horne’s run with WWE lasted from 1993 to 1996. Following his departure from the company that year, he did not step away from the squared circle entirely. Instead, he continued to perform on the independent wrestling circuit, where he remained active for years. His passion for the business extended beyond his own in-ring work, as he eventually transitioned into roles as a mentor and wrestling promoter, helping to train and guide the next generation of performers.

Horne had faced significant health challenges in recent years. He underwent a kidney transplant in 2018, a major surgical procedure that required ongoing medical management. In 2022, he battled COVID-19, adding to his health complications. His struggles continued in 2025, when he spent the final two months of his life in the hospital fighting the blood infection and pneumonia that ultimately contributed to his death.

Tributes poured in from across the wrestling world following news of his passing. Powerlifter and former WWE star Mark Henry expressed his condolences on social media, reflecting on their acquaintance despite crossing paths only briefly over the years. WWE official Adam Pearce also shared his sadness, noting that Horne had stayed in touch with him through little messages over the years and expressing his appreciation for their shared time together.

Leilani Kai’s tribute continued beyond her initial statement, as she recalled working with Horne on the Carolina independent circuit after their WWE days. She emphasized his genuine nature both in and out of the spotlight, describing his love for the wrestling business, the fans, and his commitment to giving back to the industry that had given him so much. Kai noted that Horne possessed a special warmth that reminded people that wrestling was about more than just what happened in the ring—it was about the people and memories created along the way.

The professional wrestling industry has lost numerous performers over the years, and each loss resonates throughout the tight-knit community of wrestlers, promoters, and fans. Tag team wrestling, in particular, has been a cornerstone of sports entertainment since its earliest days, with successful partnerships becoming legendary in wrestling lore. The Men on a Mission represented a specific era in WWE history when colorful characters and larger-than-life personalities dominated programming.

Throughout his career, Horne was known not just for his performances but for his character outside the ring. Multiple colleagues and peers have described him as kind, humble, and deeply devoted to both his peers and his fans. According to those who knew him, he never took a moment of his wrestling career for granted and maintained a grateful attitude toward the opportunities the business provided him.

The wrestling world continues to remember Horne for his infectious energy, booming personality, and unmistakable charisma that made Men on a Mission a team that fans couldn’t help but cheer for whenever their music played. His contributions to professional wrestling, both as an active performer and later as a mentor helping to develop future talent, have left a lasting impact on the independent wrestling scene and beyond.
