Trump Stuns Nation With BOLD Rename for Republican Party

President Donald Trump proposed renaming the Republican Party after himself on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, taking to Truth Social to ask his followers what the new name should be. The 79-year-old president suggested two alternatives: “Tepublican” or “Tpublican,” both incorporating his initial into the party’s traditional name.

“There is a new word for a TRUMP REPUBLICAN,” Trump declared on the social media platform he founded. He claimed that “almost everyone” now identifies as a Trump Republican, citing what he described as great policy as the driving force behind this shift. However, the president’s assertion comes at a time when his nationwide approval rating hovers at approximately 38 percent, suggesting a more divided public opinion than his statement would indicate.

The proposal notably rejected the more obvious “Trumpublican” option, a name that even his son Don Jr. had suggested. “It is, TEPUBLICAN??? Or, TPUBLICAN???” Trump wrote on his Truth Social post, asking followers to weigh in on the alternatives. The president’s chosen names would represent a significant departure from the party’s traditional identity.

Trump’s announcement elicited mixed responses from his Truth Social followers. Some supporters embraced the idea enthusiastically, with various users offering their own suggestions for what to call the movement. “Whatever the word is, that’s exactly what I am!” one Truth Social user wrote, while another declared, “I am a Trumplican. NOT a Republican.”

Others expressed strong opposition to renaming the party, with some declaring their allegiance remains with the Republican Party’s traditional identity rather than any individual politician. One follower bluntly referenced concerns about Trump’s mental decline in responding to the proposal, while others cited economic concerns, complaining about grocery costs, insurance affordability, and the overall cost of living.

The proposal comes amid growing concerns about Trump’s cognitive health, with reports surfacing of memory lapses and difficulty articulating his thoughts. Some experts have pointed to sudden bursts of aggression as potential warning signs.

Reports indicate that infighting within the Republican Party has intensified in recent months, particularly surrounding the controversy over the Epstein Files, which Congress reportedly voted to release through a bipartisan effort. A public falling out occurred between Trump and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, one of his longtime supporters.

Greene announced she would be resigning in January. Her departure represents a significant shift in the political landscape, as she has been one of the most vocal Trump supporters in the House of Representatives since taking office.

The debate over party identity reflects broader questions about the direction of American conservatism and whether the Republican Party has fundamentally transformed under Trump’s influence. Supporters argue that Trump has reshaped the party’s priorities and voter coalition in ways that justify a new identity. Critics contend that parties should represent broader ideological movements rather than individual personalities, regardless of how influential those individuals may be.

Some followers opposed the renaming idea entirely, with one Truth Social user declaring their allegiance to no president or man. The timing of Trump’s proposal, coming during a period of relatively low approval ratings and internal party tensions, has raised questions about the strategic thinking behind the announcement. Whether the rebranding effort gains traction among party leadership and voters remains to be seen, as does the question of whether such a fundamental change to party identity would require formal procedural steps beyond presidential social media posts.
