Young Hollywood Star Dead at 33

Spencer Lofranco, a Canadian Hollywood actor known for his performances in films including “Gotti,” “Jamesy Boy,” and “Unbroken,” died on November 18. He was 33 years old. Lofranco’s brother, Santino Lofranco, confirmed his death via Instagram.

The news of Lofranco’s passing emerged around November 20, 2025, according to Entertainment Tonight, sending shockwaves through the entertainment community. The young actor had established himself in both independent and studio productions throughout his career.

Lofranco gained recognition for his role in the crime drama “Gotti,” which starred John Travolta as the notorious mob boss John Gotti. The film, which chronicled the rise and fall of the Gambino crime family leader, featured Lofranco in a supporting role.

Beyond his work in crime dramas, Lofranco demonstrated his range as a performer through his appearance in “Unbroken,” the World War II biographical drama. The film, which told the remarkable story of Olympic athlete and war hero Louis Zamperini, showcased Lofranco’s ability to contribute to ensemble casts tackling serious historical subject matter.

At 33, Lofranco’s death represents a profound loss for the film industry. As one source noted, the actor had built a career spanning notable productions, leaving behind performances that resonated with audiences. The entertainment world has witnessed several untimely losses of young talent over the years, each leaving audiences and colleagues to contemplate the contributions these performers might have made with more time.

Following his brother’s announcement, Lofranco’s recent social media activity has stirred deep emotions among fans. In the days since, many have been revisiting his last posts and livestreams, searching for clues about what he might have been experiencing.

In recent weeks, the actor shared his intentions to focus on rest, recovery, and getting ready for the coming year. Since news of his death, his final Instagram post has been filled with tributes. Meanwhile, clips from his last recordings are spreading rapidly online as fans struggle to come to terms with the loss.

In one of his last moments online, Lofranco reportedly shared that he planned to take a step back and focus on himself before the year came to a close. About a week before his passing, the actor posted a black-and-white selfie, expressing his anticipation of having his face tattoos removed. It became one of the final images fans would see before the sad news broke.

In a 2014 conversation with Interview, Lofranco shared that he had always seen himself as a naturally funny kid, constantly trying to make others laugh and often finding himself in the spotlight. He explained that at 17, he made the decision to seriously pursue acting, even though his father had hoped he would become a hockey player or a lawyer.

While completing a year-long conservatory program at the New York Film Academy, he secured the role in “Jamesy Boy.”

In the comments on his final post, many expressed heartfelt condolences. Among them, Jennifer Cyr (@jmitchcyr) referred to his last Instagram Live, pleading for the news of his death to be false. She recalled him saying he was stepping away to focus on recovery, promising to return, and sharing that he had been “clean” for five days at the time.

After stepping away from Hollywood following his role in “Gotti,” Lofranco continued to engage with fans on social media, regularly posting his artwork, reflections, and updates. TMZ reports that authorities in British Columbia, Canada, are investigating his death.
