Pop Singer Dies Suddenly at 26

Pop singer Camryn Magness died at age 26 after being struck while riding an electric scooter on December 5, 2025. The news was announced on her social media accounts, marking the end of a career that began when she was just eight years old and saw her perform alongside some of the biggest names in pop music.

The collision occurred around 7:52 p.m. in Fort Myers, Florida, according to police reports. The electric scooter was being operated by a male with Magness as a passenger when they collided with a pedestrian. All individuals involved sustained significant injuries and were transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center by Miami Beach Fire Rescue.

Her mother, Sarah, confirmed the death to media outlets. A statement posted to Magness’ social media described her as “a radiant force whose voice, coy, and bright spirit touched so many. Whether beneath the waves or on stage, she met life with fearless energy and boundless kindness.”

Born on July 14, 1999, in Denver, Colorado, Magness launched her music career by recording a demo and sending it to Jeff Pringle, who became her manager. Her early work gained traction through YouTube videos where she shared her vocal performances, eventually catching the attention of established artists in the pop scene.

Magness’ breakthrough came in 2010 when she joined the Waiting 4U Tour alongside Greyson Chance and Cody Simpson. Her debut single, “Wait and See,” released that same year, was later featured in the 2011 film “Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer.”

Her career reached new heights when she joined One Direction as an opening act. She initially performed at seven shows during their 2012 Up All Night Tour. The experience proved transformative for the young artist, who was still largely unknown at the time.

Speaking about the opportunity in 2012, Magness reflected on her experience with excitement. “Going into the tour, I was an unknown artist. It’s a great feeling to be walking around and someone coming up to me and saying, ‘Hey, you did so well!’ It was really exciting for me when that happened for the first time,” she said.

The success of that initial run led to an extended collaboration. One Direction invited her back for their 2013 Take Me Home Tour, cementing her status as a rising talent in the pop music scene. She also opened for Cody Simpson, expanding her reach to larger audiences across the country.

Her touring resume continued to grow when she opened for Fifth Harmony on their 7/27 Tour in 2016. By this point, Magness had established herself as a sought-after opening act capable of warming up crowds at major venues across the nation.

As a recording artist, Magness continued to develop her craft throughout her career. Her most recent project was the Love Maps EP, which she released in 2021. The work showcased her evolution as a songwriter and performer, reflecting years of experience in the music industry.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Magness was building a personal life with her fiancé, Christian Name. According to her obituary, the couple was described as being deeply in love and planning a future together.

The official obituary characterized her as a “vibrant, fearless, and deeply loved young woman whose compassion, humor, and bright spirit touched every person blessed to know her.” It noted that her music served as an extension of her personality, whether she was performing on stage, singing at family gatherings, or sharing songs with people who needed them.

Her career trajectory exemplified the changing landscape of the music industry, where early adoption of digital platforms like YouTube could launch careers. Magness leveraged these tools while still in her formative years, building a following that eventually led to opportunities with established touring acts.

The announcement of her death included a request for privacy and prayers for those closest to her. Her family indicated that while there would be no public memorial, her social media presence would remain active as a place for fans and friends to remember her contributions to music.

Magness is survived by her parents, Sarah and Gary, her siblings Chelsea and Cable, and her fiancé. She leaves behind a catalog of recordings and memories of performances at some of the most prestigious venues in the country, having shared stages with artists who defined pop music in the 2010s.
