A 16-year-old girl from Georgia was fatally shot on Thanksgiving Day while awaiting an Uber ride, following an altercation with other teenagers who reportedly taunted her about her deceased boyfriend. This incident was captured on a doorbell camera, according to local law enforcement.
The victim, Taylor Hamilton, was killed on the 3000 block of Wentworth Avenue in Ellenwood, Georgia, shortly after 6 p.m. on November 27, 2025. The Clayton County police have arrested Adonis Alkarim, 15, in connection with the shooting, and he is being charged as an adult.
Nandi Hamilton, Taylor’s mother, stated that the situation developed while her daughter was sitting outside a residence waiting for a ride. The doorbell video footage shows Taylor wearing earphones with her Uber only five minutes away. Hamilton said that other teenagers came out of the house and confronted her daughter.
“They were mad about her keeping her boyfriend’s name alive and they didn’t like that,” Hamilton told local media. Taylor had been grieving the loss of her boyfriend, who had been murdered.
The conflict intensified when Alkarim produced a firearm. Taylor reportedly informed him that she was unfazed by the weapon and initially turned away. However, after additional taunting, she approached the suspect, who then fired the shot.
“He’s a monster. He shot her in cold blood,” Hamilton said.
Taylor was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Her mother believes that her daughter may have been lured to the location by individuals she believed were friends.
The shooting has left Taylor’s family preparing for a funeral during what would typically be a time of celebration. Hamilton recounted the moment she received the news about her daughter’s shooting and her rush to the hospital, hoping Taylor would survive.
“Planning a funeral instead of Christmas. Thanksgiving will never be the same,” she said.
Taylor was a sophomore at Booker T. Washington High School in Atlanta, Georgia, known for her academic excellence, earning A grades. She participated in JROTC and aspired to become a veterinarian. Her mother noted that teachers and school administrators held her in high regard.
Peers described Taylor as compassionate and supportive, often acting as a big sister to her friends. She was fond of looking after children and babysitting. Her mother mentioned that Taylor was full of life and positively influenced those around her.
The 15-year-old suspect faces several serious charges, including malice murder, first-degree child cruelty, possession of a firearm by an individual under 16, and possession of a firearm during a felony. Since he is being charged as an adult, the case will proceed in the adult criminal justice system rather than juvenile court.
Malice murder in Georgia is a grave charge, suggesting that prosecutors believe the act was committed with the intent to cause death. The child cruelty charge addresses the ages of those involved, while the firearm charges pertain to both the suspect’s age and the use of a weapon in a felony.
The doorbell camera footage that recorded the incident is central to the ongoing police investigation. It has also been circulated on social media, which has compounded the family’s distress. Hamilton expressed concern over the sharing of the video online.
The case underscores persistent issues surrounding youth violence and firearm accessibility. Questions arise about how a 15-year-old acquired a weapon and why it was present during what began as a Thanksgiving gathering.
Taylor’s mother conveyed both her anger and sorrow over the incident. She questioned how the suspect could have been driven to such violence in the presence of others. The family’s struggle to understand the senseless nature of the killing continues.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to assist the family with the costs associated with the funeral and burial. Taylor was laid to rest on Saturday, December 6, at Donehoo-Lewis Funeral Home in Hapeville, Georgia.
The investigation by Clayton County police is ongoing. Alkarim’s prosecution as an adult means that legal proceedings will be public, unlike those in juvenile court, which are typically confidential. Authorities released his identity due to the charges he faces as an adult.
For Nandi Hamilton and her family, the holidays will be a reminder of Taylor’s absence. Her mother described her daughter as a person who spread positivity to everyone she met. That positivity, however, could not shield her from violence on a day intended for gratitude and family.
