Young Music Star Dies Suddenly at 26

Florida rapper POORSTACY, born Carlito Milfort Jr., has died at age 26 following a medical emergency at a hotel in Boca Raton, Florida. The Palm Beach County Medical Examiner confirmed his death occurred early Saturday, Nov. 29, 2025, though the cause of death has not been officially determined.

According to reports from TMZ, authorities responded to a hotel in Boca Raton on Saturday morning where the rapper was staying. He was transported to a local hospital following the medical emergency. A hotel employee indicated that POORSTACY had been staying at the property for 10 days and had checked in with a woman and a toddler. No one else was injured or required hospitalization during the incident.

The Boca Raton Police Department confirmed the death to news outlets, but authorities have not released details about what led to the medical emergency. The Palm Beach County Medical Examiner’s office is investigating, and no official cause of death has been announced as of Tuesday afternoon. TMZ reported that “folks leaving comments on POORSTACY’s most recent Instagram post are indicating they are under the belief he may have died by suicide.”

POORSTACY was originally from Palm Beach, Florida, where he developed his distinctive sound that blended hip-hop with rock genres. His unique approach to music attracted attention from prominent artists in both the rap and rock worlds, leading to collaborations that helped establish his career in the alternative music scene.

The young artist worked closely with Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker on three songs, with their biggest collaboration being “Choose Life.” He also partnered with Bring Me the Horizon frontman Oli Sykes on the track “Knife Party,” demonstrating his ability to bridge different musical styles and connect with artists across genre boundaries.

POORSTACY achieved notable recognition when he was featured on the soundtrack for “Bill and Ted Face Music” in 2020. The soundtrack received a Grammy nomination. This achievement represented one of the highest-profile accomplishments of his career and exposed his music to a wider audience beyond his core fanbase.

Throughout his career, the rapper released two studio albums through 10k Projects. His debut album “The Breakfast Club” came out in 2020, followed by “Party at the Cemetery” in 2021. Both projects showcased his signature style of combining elements of emo, punk rock, and hip-hop into a cohesive sound that resonated with fans seeking alternatives to traditional rap music.

POORSTACY remained active in releasing music throughout 2025. His most recent song dropped in July, and he collaborated with Paris Shadows on a track in October, just weeks before his death. These collaborations demonstrated his continued commitment to making music and working with other artists in the scene.

The rapper’s career faced challenges in 2023 when he was arrested on charges of battery and child neglect. However, the case was eventually dropped. This incident represented a difficult period in his personal life, though he continued to pursue his music career following the resolution of the legal matter.

Following news of his death, fans flooded his social media accounts with messages. POORSTACY’s close friendship with Oli Sykes was evident in a 2021 interview with Revolver, where he shared, “Oli sends me clothes that he thinks would look good on me. He sends me handwritten letters, and we play Call of Duty until six in the ****in’ morning.”

POORSTACY’s approach to music represented a growing trend of artists who refuse to be confined by traditional genre boundaries. His willingness to incorporate elements of rock and punk into hip-hop created a sound that appealed to fans across multiple musical communities. This cross-genre appeal helped him build a dedicated following and establish relationships with artists from different musical backgrounds.

As authorities continue their investigation and await final determinations from the medical examiner’s office, fans and fellow musicians have expressed their grief over losing an artist who showed promise and creativity. POORSTACY’s contributions to the evolution of alternative hip-hop and his collaborations with established artists ensured his impact on the music scene during his short career.
