Barron Trump, the 19-year-old son of Donald Trump, made an emergency call to police in the United Kingdom after witnessing a woman being assaulted during a video call, according to testimony heard at Snaresbrook Crown Court in Greater London.
The dramatic call, made at 2:23am on January 18, 2025, came after Trump had video-called the woman and witnessed her being attacked. A transcript of the emergency call was read aloud in court as part of an ongoing trial against Matvei Rumiantsev, a 22-year-old Russian citizen from Poplar, east London.
Rumiantsev faces multiple charges including two counts of rape, assault, actual bodily harm, intentional strangulation and perverting the course of justice. He denies all charges.
During the emergency call, Trump told the operator that the woman was “getting beat up.” When pressed for details about how he knew the victim, Trump said he met her on social media. Trump said the call lasted 10 to 15 seconds.
Trump had been on a FaceTime video call with the woman when Rumiantsev answered the call. According to testimony, Trump witnessed a man punching the woman repeatedly during the brief video connection. The assault happened about 8 minutes before the emergency call was placed.
The transcript revealed a tense exchange between Trump and the emergency operator. When asked for information about the victim, Trump responded that the details did not matter because “she’s getting beat up.” The operator told Trump to stop being rude and answer questions clearly. Trump later apologized for being rude during the call.
In a written statement to police following the incident, Trump said he was very close with the victim. He also asked two US friends to call police on the woman’s behalf, the court heard.
The woman testified in court that Trump helped save her life. “He helped save my life. That call was like a sign from God at that moment,” she said, according to court reports.
Police bodycam footage showed the woman confirming her friendship with Trump when officers arrived at the scene. In the video, one officer was heard telling a colleague about the connection to Trump.
Rumiantsev was arrested the following morning after the alleged assault. During testimony, he addressed his relationship with the woman and his feelings about her connection to Trump.
The defendant said he was jealous of Trump, according to testimony heard in court. However, Rumiantsev denied being angry about the call from Trump. He said the woman was in a hysterical state when the call came through.
Defense barrister Sasha Wass KC called the account a complete fabrication. The defense has challenged various aspects of the prosecution’s case as the trial continues at Snaresbrook Crown Court.
The court proceedings have included testimony on January 22, 2026, with additional evidence presented on January 21, 2026. The trial is being presided over by Mr Justice Bennathan KC, who heard arguments from both prosecution and defense regarding the events of January 2025.
Prosecutor Serena Gates presented evidence to the jury about the relationship between the defendant and the alleged victim, including details about their interactions on November 3, 2024. The prosecution has outlined a timeline of events leading up to the alleged assault in January 2025.
The trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court is ongoing, with additional testimony expected in the coming days. The jury will ultimately determine whether Rumiantsev is guilty of the charges he faces.
