Famous Actor’s Daughter Found Dead

Victoria Jones, the 34-year-old daughter of Academy Award-winning actor Tommy Lee Jones, was found dead at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco on New Year’s Day, authorities confirmed.

The San Francisco Fire Department responded to a medical emergency call at 950 Mason St. at 2:52 a.m. on January 1, 2026. Paramedics arrived at the scene and declared the person deceased before turning the case over to the San Francisco Police Department and the medical examiner’s office.

Police were called to the hotel at approximately 3:15 a.m. regarding a report of a deceased person. Officers met with medics who declared an adult woman dead at the scene. A guest had alerted hotel staff after discovering the woman in a corridor.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner subsequently identified the deceased as Victoria Jones and notified her next of kin. The cause of death remains undetermined and pending further investigation. Authorities have indicated that no foul play is suspected in connection with the death, though a suspected drug overdose was mentioned in emergency dispatch communications.

In a statement released Friday, the family expressed their grief while requesting privacy. “We appreciate all of the kind words, thoughts, and prayers,” the statement read. “Please respect our privacy during this difficult time.”

The Fairmont Hotel issued its own statement expressing condolences. The hotel confirmed it is cooperating with police within the framework of the ongoing investigation.

Victoria Jones was the daughter of Tommy Lee Jones and his second wife, Kimberlea Cloughley. She had an older brother, Austin Jones, who is 43 years old. Tommy Lee Jones, now 79 years old, had been married to Cloughley.

Following in her father’s footsteps, Victoria pursued acting during her childhood and teenage years. She appeared in “Men in Black II,” a science fiction comedy that starred her father in one of the lead roles. The film was part of the popular “Men in Black” franchise that became a cultural phenomenon in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Victoria also acted in “The Three Burials,” a Western drama that her father directed. The film earned critical acclaim for its storytelling and performances. In a 2005 interview, Tommy Lee Jones spoke about his daughter’s abilities as an actress, noting that she spoke Spanish fluently. “She’s a good actress, has her SAG card, speaks impeccable Spanish,” he said at the time.

In addition to her film work, Victoria appeared in the television series “One Tree Hill” in 2005. The popular teen drama series, which aired on The WB and later The CW network, featured numerous guest stars throughout its nine-season run.

Victoria and her father were occasionally seen together on red carpets over the years. In October 2017, they attended an event in Tokyo. The father-daughter pair appeared together publicly in Hollywood in October 2018 as well.

Public records indicate Victoria had encounters with law enforcement in 2025. She was arrested twice that year in Napa County. On April 28, 2025, she faced arrest on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance. The arrests also involved being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Tommy Lee Jones has enjoyed a distinguished career spanning more than four decades in Hollywood. He won an Oscar for his supporting role in “The Fugitive” in 1994. His portrayal of U.S. Marshal Samuel Gerard earned him the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

The veteran actor has appeared in numerous critically acclaimed and commercially successful films throughout his career. His filmography includes memorable roles in “JFK,” “Lincoln,” and “No Country for Old Men.”

Jones has built a reputation for playing tough, authoritative characters, often law enforcement officials or military personnel. His distinctive gravelly voice and stern demeanor have made him one of Hollywood’s most recognizable character actors. Beyond the “Men in Black” franchise, he has appeared in numerous productions across various genres.

The Fairmont San Francisco is one of the city’s most historic and prestigious hotels. The landmark property has hosted presidents, dignitaries, and celebrities. The hotel’s distinctive architecture and luxurious accommodations have made it an iconic part of the city’s skyline and tourism industry.

The San Francisco Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding Victoria Jones’ death. As the medical examiner’s office works to determine the exact cause and manner of death, authorities have maintained that the investigation remains ongoing.

Hotel deaths, while relatively uncommon, do occur in major cities and require careful investigation by multiple agencies. The coordination between fire department paramedics, police officers, and medical examiner staff follows standard protocol for any unexpected death in a public accommodation. Such investigations typically involve examining the scene, interviewing witnesses, reviewing surveillance footage if available, and conducting toxicology tests to determine contributing factors.

The tragedy marks a devastating loss for the Jones family as they navigate this difficult period. The family’s request for privacy reflects the deeply personal nature of their grief as they cope with the sudden death of a daughter, sister, and family member who was still in the early years of adulthood.
