Taylor Swift’s Wedding Plans Stalled For Now

Taylor Swift and NFL star Travis Kelce have reportedly paused their wedding plans as Kelce contemplates a significant career choice, say sources close to the couple.

The duo, engaged since August 2025, are said to be prioritizing spending quality time together over hurrying with wedding planning.

A source revealed to Yahoo that they are not even halfway through creating the guest list and are currently more focused on enjoying each other’s company.

Kelce’s consideration of retiring from the NFL following a lackluster 2025 season with the Kansas City Chiefs, Missouri, has led to the pause in wedding preparations. The team didn’t qualify for the playoffs, leaving the tight end unsure about his professional football future.

Swift is encouraging Kelce to make his career decision before proceeding with the wedding plans, understanding the significance of this choice to him. The singer has been supporting Kelce through this tough time, which insiders refer to as their relationship’s first major test.

The couple commenced dating in July 2023, and both have seen considerable success in their respective careers during their relationship. However, this challenging season has presented them with their first experience of navigating uncertainty together.

Kelce aims to decide his future by early March, a few weeks after the Super Bowl. The 13-year NFL veteran wants to ensure he is physically prepared before committing to another season. Kelce has achieved over 13,000 receiving yards during his career.

Despite the halt in wedding planning, the couple remains engaged and content. They were seen at dinner in Beverly Hills, California, at the restaurant Funke, looking relaxed and at ease with each other. Sources indicate they are currently more in date-night mode than wedding mode, with no significant meetings or seating charts decided yet.

“The ring’s on, but that’s about as far as it goes,” a friend said.

Swift is noticeably laid back with the wedding planning process, contrasting with her usual meticulous attention to detail.

Speculation circulated around a potential wedding date of June 13, 2026, at Ocean House in Watch Hill, Rhode Island, aligning with Swift’s lucky number 13. However, no official plans have been confirmed, and sources verify that the couple has not decided on any venue or date.

Kelce previously expressed doubts about fall weddings on his New Heights podcast with brother Jason Kelce. The Kansas City star noted that most of his friends choose summer weddings and mentioned the difficulty of scheduling a wedding during football season without clashing with important games.

The couple’s approach to retirement planning reflects broader discussions in professional sports about when athletes should retire. NFL retiree Eli Manning recently commented on retirement decisions that current players face, acknowledging the emotional complexity involved.

Sources indicate that Kelce is pondering playing for one more year, but the decision is weighing on him as he considers concluding a sport that has shaped his entire adult life. The tight end is grappling with the thought of ending his football career while simultaneously planning for significant life changes, including marriage and potentially starting a family.

Swift is focusing her energy on uplifting Kelce and fostering positivity during this transitional phase. The couple opted to skip the Golden Globes to enjoy private time together, further emphasizing their commitment to prioritizing their relationship over public appearances.

The pair is also reportedly planning a European trip during the offseason. Kelce recently discovered his Croatian heritage and wants to explore this link with Swift accompanying him.

Insiders emphasize that the relationship remains strong despite the pause in formal planning. The delay is not indicative of any issues between Swift and Kelce, but rather a practical response to the significant decisions Kelce faces about his professional future.
