Missing Mom Found Dead

A Missouri woman who went missing while on a trip to collect her kids has been found dead after a car crash in Miller County. The 35-year-old woman, Amanda Rodgers, from Eldon, Missouri, was discovered following a weeklong search.

Coroner Caleb Shelton pronounced Rodgers deceased at 1:43 a.m. on Feb. 2, 2026, according to a report. The announcement concluded a search that led to the issuance of an Endangered Person Advisory.

Rodgers vanished on Jan. 26, 2026, while on her way from Eldon to the Camdenton area to pick up her children. Her failure to arrive triggered a search by family members and law enforcement.

The Camden County Sheriff’s Office issued an Endangered Person Advisory for Rodgers at 3 a.m. on Jan. 31. She was last seen driving a 2003 tan Chevrolet Malibu.

A deputy from the Miller County Sheriff’s Office found the vehicle near U.S. 54 and Howser Road, in the Meads Flat area of Miller County, close to Montreal. The discovery came following an active search of the area.

The Miller County Coroner’s Office mentioned that Rodgers’ car was hidden off the road by a fallen tree, making it hard to spot from the highway.

The fallen tree, affecting visibility, likely caused the delay in finding the vehicle. The car had skidded off the road and overturned after Rodgers failed to negotiate a curve, finally resting in a wooded area concealed by the tree.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol estimates the crash occurred around Jan. 26, which means Rodgers’ vehicle was off the road for about a week before it was found. The patrol and the Miller County Coroner’s Office are jointly investigating the crash.

Accidents on rural highways like Highway 54, which connects various central Missouri communities, can often go unnoticed for extended periods, especially when cars leave the road and are hidden by natural elements. The highway’s curves require careful navigation, particularly during winter.

Rodgers’ death appears to be accidental, and no foul play is suspected. However, as required by Missouri law, the investigation continues. The law mandates that coroner’s offices investigate all deaths occurring under certain circumstances, such as vehicular crashes.

The Camden County Sheriff’s Office collaborated with the Miller County Sheriff’s Office in the search efforts. Such coordination is common in missing person cases when the individual’s last known location and potential route span multiple jurisdictions.

The highway patrol released details of the fatal crash after the vehicle was found. The patrol’s crash reconstruction specialists are examining factors like vehicle speed, road conditions, visibility, mechanical failures, and driver behavior to reconstruct the events leading to the crash.

The Miller County Coroner’s Office expressed its deepest condolences to Rodgers’ family and loved ones. The office indicated that no additional details would be released, respecting the family’s privacy during their time of grief.

The investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Miller County Coroner’s Office continues as they aim to identify all contributing factors to the crash. The findings may lead to safety recommendations for the stretch of Highway 54 where the accident occurred.
