Lady Gaga Announces Something Nobody Expected

Lady Gaga has announced she’s getting married “soon” to her fiancé Michael Polansky, revealing the news in a surprising way that has fans excited about the long-anticipated wedding.

The 39-year-old pop icon phoned into Bruno Mars’ iHeartRadio livestream “Romantic Radio” on Friday, March 6, 2026, asking him to dedicate a special song to her and Polansky as they prepare to marry. Mars, 40, immediately knew it was his friend and picked “Risk It All,” the opening track from his February 2026 album “The Romantic,” as a possible first-dance choice for the couple.

The wedding news follows nearly two years after Gaga publicly confirmed her engagement to Polansky, a tech entrepreneur and Harvard graduate, in July 2024. She first revealed it in a particularly memorable way at the Paris Olympics, referring to him as her “fiancé” while speaking with French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal.

The pair met in December 2019 at Sean Parker’s 40th birthday celebration in Los Angeles. They were spotted kissing at a New Year’s Eve party in Las Vegas and went public after the 2020 Super Bowl in Miami. During the COVID-19 lockdown, they quarantined together at Gaga’s Malibu residence, where their relationship grew closer.

Polansky proposed on April Fools’ Day 2024 during a rock climb — but he didn’t pop the question at the summit. For safety, he kept the ring in his backpack and waited until they were back at the base before asking. In classic Polansky style, he asked for permission before proposing.

The engagement inspired one of the most personal tracks on Gaga’s March 2025 album “MAYHEM,” on which Polansky was a co-executive producer and co-writer on several songs. The track “Blade of Grass” came from an intimate backyard chat about the proposal; Gaga told the BBC that he once asked, “If I ever proposed to you, like, how do I do that?” and she replied, “Just get a blade of grass from the backyard and wrap it around my finger.”

Regarding the wedding plans, Gaga has hinted she may keep the event fairly low-key, though she admits anything is possible. She joked about a courthouse ceremony with Chinese takeout but also said it could turn into “a circus with unicorns.”

In November 2025, Polansky discussed their timeline in a Rolling Stone interview, saying they talk about marriage “all the time” and prefer an intimate ceremony over a grand production. Their Mayhem Ball tour is set to conclude at Madison Square Garden in April 2026.

Their creative partnership goes beyond music. Gaga often praises Polansky as her closest friend and greatest supporter, crediting him with recognizing who she is beyond her pop persona. She won Artist of the Year at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards and dedicated the award to “my partner in all things, Michael.”

On her October 2025 appearance on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” Gaga — born Stefani Germanotta — also said her next major role would be motherhood. When asked about future projects, she answered plainly: “What I really want is to be a mom. That’s my next starring role, I hope.”

By August 2024, reports indicated wedding planning and prenup talks were underway, according to multiple reports at the time. With Gaga’s recent confirmation that the wedding will happen “soon,” fans are eager to see whether they’ll opt for a simple courthouse ceremony with takeout or the whimsical, unicorn-filled event she joked about.

One thing is clear: whether they pick Bruno Mars’ “Risk It All” or Gaga’s own “Blade of Grass,” the music at their wedding will be deeply meaningful.
