Nancy Pelosi Stuns Crowd at Oscars Party

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi turned heads on Sunday night, March 15, 2026, at the Vanity Fair Oscars after party, walking the red carpet with her husband Paul Pelosi and sparking a wave of bewildered reactions across social platforms.

The 85-year-old Democratic figure arrived at the exclusive event held at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art—a new location for the storied party, which moved from its longtime venue at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills. Elegantly dressed, Pelosi circulated among Hollywood attendees just hours after the 98th Academy Awards at the Dolby Theatre wrapped up.

Her presence drew ridicule and confusion online, with many asking why the longtime San Francisco congresswoman was at one of entertainment’s most glamorous gatherings. Others pointed to the couple’s vast financial gains as a reason for their appearance, noting they’ve attracted intense scrutiny and even inspired a Nancy Pelosi Stock Tracker account with over a million followers tracking their trades.

When Pelosi first entered Congress in 1987 at age 47, financial disclosures indicated she and her husband had a net worth near $3 million, including roughly $610,000 to $785,000 in stocks. Almost four decades later, figures from Quiver Quantitative estimate the Pelosi family’s equity holdings at about $133.7 million.

That equates to an astounding 16,930 percent increase, far surpassing the S&P 500’s approximate 2,300 percent gain over the same span. The portfolio’s growth averages out to about a 14.5 percent annual return—well above the market’s historical 7 to 9 percent range.

In 2024, the Pelosis’ investments produced an exceptional return of 54–71 percent, depending on the tracker, more than doubling the S&P 500’s 25 percent rise and outperforming every major hedge fund Bloomberg monitored that year. Their holdings include large positions in Apple, Nvidia, Microsoft, Amazon, and Alphabet, with Paul Pelosi making call option trades that yielded multimillion-dollar profits.

Their real estate assets mirror their stock success, including an $8.7 million San Francisco residence, a Napa Valley winery valued between $5 million and $25 million, and a Washington, D.C., apartment bought in 1999 for $650,000.

At the party, Pelosi discussed California’s resilience and emphasized the role of the arts. “It’s a time when the arts have a stronger role than ever,” Pelosi said, according to USA Today.

The outing was a notable public appearance for the pair, who have kept a lower profile since the October 28, 2022 hammer attack on Paul Pelosi in their San Francisco home. The violent incident—when Nancy Pelosi was in Washington, D.C.—resulted in a skull fracture for Paul requiring surgery and metal plates, along with nerve damage and other serious injuries.

The assailant, David DePape, forced his way into the Pelosis’ Pacific Heights bedroom demanding to know “Where is Nancy?” He has been convicted on federal and state counts. In May 2024, a federal judge sentenced him to 30 years, and in October 2024 a San Francisco judge imposed a life term without parole on state charges, including aggravated kidnapping. DePape began serving his sentence at the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi in November 2024.

Soon after the attack, Nancy Pelosi announced she would step down as Democratic House leader, ending a 20-year leadership run that included her historic role as the first female Speaker of the House from 2007 to 2011 and again from 2019 to 2023. In November 2025 she said she would not run for reelection in 2026, concluding nearly four decades in Congress when her term ends in January 2027. She remains a House member but no longer holds a leadership post.

At the Vanity Fair gathering—the first under new Global Editorial Director Mark Guiducci, who succeeded longtime editor Radhika Jones—the Pelosis were seen talking with journalist Ronan Farrow and actress Holland Taylor. The event also drew 2026 Oscar winners such as Best Actor Michael B. Jordan for “Sinners” and Best Actress Jessie Buckley for “Hamnet,” along with tech leaders, fashion figures, and many other entertainment professionals.

The couple’s attendance continues a trend of high-profile appearances at entertainment events, blending politics and Hollywood. They attended the Vanity Fair Oscar parties in 2023 and 2025 as well, suggesting a recurring presence on the guest list. While some questioned whether their presence was appropriate, others saw it as another example of the growing overlap between political influence and celebrity culture in modern America.
