Trump’s New Shocking Military Move

On Tuesday, March 3, 2026, the United States and Ecuador initiated combined military actions targeting what both nations termed “designated terrorist organizations,” representing another extension of U.S. military involvement under President Trump while simultaneously conducting extensive air operations against Iran.

The joint Ecuador mission signals a notable intensification of the Trump administration’s military strategy in Latin America. U.S. Southern Command confirmed American forces delivered planning assistance, intelligence support, and operational guidance, with military advisors working alongside Ecuadorian commandos in operations against narcoterrorist groups. This represents the initial instance of U.S. military involvement in a ground-based operation under the administration’s anti-cartel campaign in Latin America.

This mission emerged days following President Trump’s initiation of what military officials call “Operation Epic Fury” against Iran — an extensive U.S.-Israeli aerial bombardment. The confrontation began on February 28 with airstrikes that killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in Tehran, removing the Islamic Republic’s top leadership.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt acknowledged the Ecuador mission during a media briefing while offering sparse information regarding its parameters and timeline. Pentagon attention centered primarily on Iran, where officials confront increasing scrutiny about strategic goals and withdrawal strategies.

In Iran, casualties have mounted significantly. Six American soldiers died on March 1 when an Iranian drone attacked a tactical operations facility at a commercial port facility in Kuwait. All belonged to the Army Reserve’s 103rd Sustainment Command. Three U.S. F-15E fighters were additionally destroyed in a friendly fire episode when Kuwaiti air defenses mistakenly engaged them — although all six aviators ejected without injury.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth adopted a confrontational stance during Wednesday’s Pentagon media session. “We can sustain this fight easily for as long as we need to,” Hegseth stated, disclosing that a U.S. submarine had destroyed an Iranian warship using a torpedo.

The confrontation reached a devastating milestone when a bombing struck a girls’ elementary school in Minab, southern Iran. Iranian officials report 165 fatalities, predominantly schoolgirls aged seven to 12. UNESCO characterized the strike as “a grave violation of humanitarian law.” U.S. Central Command indicated it is examining reports of civilian casualties and has not acknowledged responsibility. The educational facility sits on the boundary of an Iranian Revolutionary Guard installation.

Intelligence officials disclosed that the CIA provided location data to Israel that assisted in identifying the positions of Khamenei and additional senior Iranian officials, facilitating the synchronized strikes that eliminated the Supreme Leader alongside numerous senior military commanders.

The Ecuador mission proceeds amid strained U.S.-Latin American diplomatic relations. In late January, ICE personnel attempted to access Ecuador’s Minneapolis consulate while pursuing an individual, resulting in Ecuador submitting a formal diplomatic complaint. The Trump administration has subsequently attempted to restore relations with Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa, who conducted meetings with U.S. Southern Command’s senior officers in Quito shortly before the joint mission commenced.

The concurrent operations constitute an unprecedented degree of American military activity. President Trump has supervised both campaigns from his Mar-a-Lago property in Palm Beach, Florida, cautioning in social media statements that the Iran confrontation might extend “four to five weeks” and that further American casualties are anticipated.

The economic ramifications have been swift and substantial. Oil prices have surged as Iran’s retaliatory strikes target Gulf states accommodating U.S. military installations. Iran has attacked facilities in Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia, while its missiles have caused at least 11 fatalities in Israel. The confrontation has produced the most significant disruption to worldwide air transport since the COVID pandemic.

Vice President JD Vance has publicly endorsed the administration’s actions in Iran, while the White House has stressed that both the Ecuador and Iran operations target terrorist organizations and advance American national security objectives.

As military operations persist on dual fronts, demonstrations have emerged in numerous American cities, with protesters opposing the expanding conflicts. The administration has not supplied a timeline for when either operation might terminate, and officials have refused to exclude the potential deployment of ground troops in the future.
