In a stunning move, Hunter Biden has issued a challenge to the eldest sons of President Donald Trump, proposing they resolve their families’ longstanding animosity through a cage fight.
The 56-year-old son of former President Joe Biden declared on Thursday that he’s “100 percent in” for a possible cage battle with Donald Trump Jr., 48, and Eric Trump, 42, in a bombshell video posted on social media.
“I told him I’d do it — 100% in if he can pull it off. And if he can’t, I’m still coming,” Biden said in the video posted to Andrew Callaghan’s Channel 5 Instagram account.
Biden issued the challenge while promoting his forthcoming appearances at Callaghan’s “C5 Carnival” shows planned for Phoenix, San Diego, and Albuquerque, New Mexico, set for late April. Callaghan, who works as a documentary filmmaker and YouTube creator, told USA TODAY he thought Hunter Biden delivered the remarks “in jest” but indicated he’s “more than happy to facilitate” the bout if the Trump brothers choose to take part.
By 10 p.m. on April 9, 2026, neither Donald Trump Jr. nor Eric Trump had issued any response to the challenge through social media. USA TODAY contacted the Trump Organization seeking comment but did not receive an immediate reply.
The White House, on the other hand, quickly weighed in. Communications Director Steven Cheung rejected the challenge with typical directness: “Hunter wouldn’t even be able to pass a piss test,” he said.
This possible fight represents a remarkable development in American political history—matching the sons of a sitting president against the son of his direct predecessor in physical combat. The event would parallel Aaron Burr’s fatal shooting of Alexander Hamilton in their notorious 1804 duel, although presumably with less lethal outcomes.
Event promoters would probably relish such a spectacle, drawing comparisons to the iconic 1975 “Thrilla in Manila” battle between boxing legends Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier. The proposal also mirrors the unfulfilled cage fight between tech moguls Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk that fascinated social media in 2023.
The circumstances create additional intrigue. The White House intends to host UFC Freedom 250 on June 14 as part of festivities commemorating the United States’ 250th anniversary. UFC competitors will battle in a mixed martial arts event on the White House South Lawn, with the occasion also honoring President Trump’s 80th birthday. UFC CEO Dana White, a longtime friend of the president, has played a key role in planning the event.
Donald Trump Jr. works as a strategic advisor to MMA Inc, a combat sports organization, while his brother Eric occupies the role of executive vice president of the Trump Organization. Both siblings have regularly attended UFC competitions with their father.
The hostility between Hunter Biden and the Trump brothers extends far back. Donald Jr. has consistently characterized the Biden family as a “crime family,” frequently emphasizing Hunter Biden’s legal problems and accusations that he exploited his father’s influence to gain financially from foreign dealings in China and Ukraine.
These criticisms grew more intense following the laptop scandal in 2020, when Hunter Biden lost a computer holding proof of his drug dependency. The laptop’s materials resulted in his conviction on federal gun charges, and he also entered a guilty plea to tax evasion.
President Biden granted a full and unconditional pardon for his son on December 1, 2024, erasing all federal convictions weeks before Trump commenced his second term in office on January 20, 2025. The pardon infuriated the Trump camp and intensified an already blazing political conflict.
The conflict grew more heated in 2025 when First Lady Melania Trump threatened legal proceedings against Hunter Biden regarding statements he made in a Channel 5 interview. Biden had asserted that convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein introduced Melania to her husband, describing the ties as “wide and deep.” The first lady’s attorney characterized the statements as “false, defamatory, disparaging, and inflammatory” in a legal notice demanding a retraction and threatening a billion-dollar lawsuit.
Hunter Biden currently confronts his own monetary difficulties, including a legal action from his previous law firm Winston & Strawn over more than $50,000 in outstanding legal fees connected to his federal criminal cases. In an April 6, 2026, court document in that case, Biden’s attorney Barry Coburn revealed that Biden “lives abroad” and “cannot afford” to pay the outstanding bills.
Whether the cage fight comes to fruition remains uncertain. Callaghan has conducted interviews with Hunter Biden several times on his Channel 5 YouTube show since Joe Biden left the White House, developing a relationship that positions the filmmaker as a logical mediator for such an unusual proposition.
At present, the challenge remains unanswered, awaiting the Trump brothers’ decision to accept or reject what might turn into one of the most unusual spectacles in contemporary American political history.
