FOX Host Turns on Trump – Viewers Stunned

President Donald Trump fired back at doubts raised during a Thursday, July 23, 2026, segment on Fox News, after “Fox and Friends” co-host Brian Kilmeade openly criticized the administration’s proposed nuclear arrangement with Saudi Arabia. Trump took to Truth Social within minutes of the broadcast, clarifying terms and setting conditions that tied the deal to the kingdom’s participation in the Abraham Accords.

Kilmeade’s remarks stood out as an unusually skeptical moment on a network that typically aligns with the president. His objections focused not on the current Saudi leadership but on an unpredictable future, and he questioned what advantages Washington would gain from permitting the kingdom to pursue uranium enrichment as part of a civilian nuclear program.

Trump Lays Out Deal Parameters

The president’s Truth Social post specified that any civil nuclear arrangement involving the U.S. Department of Energy and the Saudi government would exclude enrichment and be limited to non-military purposes, similar to existing programs in Iran and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). He emphasized that approval of the arrangement was contingent entirely on the kingdom’s accession to the accords, a framework he called highly regarded and effective.

Trump wrote that the U.S. supports civilian nuclear power initiatives provided they exclude enrichment of uranium, and he concluded in his characteristic manner by expressing appreciation for readers’ consideration of the issue. The rapid response suggested he had been watching the morning show live and felt compelled to counter the criticism immediately.

Concerns Over Leadership Succession

During the live broadcast, Kilmeade said Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman “seems to have emerged as somebody we can trust,” noting that the crown prince’s ascent was unexpected and surprised numerous analysts. He characterized bin Salman as a reformist leader who had transformed the kingdom in ways previously thought unimaginable.

Yet the Fox host warned that no one can predict who will follow the current Saudi leadership or whether future rulers will maintain cooperative relations with Washington. That uncertainty, he argued, made the proposed arrangement risky in ways that extend far beyond the immediate agreement. His reservations prompted a swift reaction online from viewers and from Trump himself.

The praise for bin Salman drew scrutiny considering American intelligence agencies determined the crown prince directed the 2018 murder of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi, an incident that significantly damaged ties between the two capitals at that juncture.

“I don’t see our benefit to letting them enrich,” Kilmeade remarked concerning the element, describing it as a worrying development while acknowledging the kingdom’s real achievements. His comments reflected persistent concerns about atomic capabilities in the region and the potential for non-military programs to enable other ambitions.

A Palestinian State Stands in the Way

McEnany, a onetime White House press secretary and now co-host, advanced the conversation by inquiring whether Riyadh could establish official relations with Israel and join the Abraham Accords under the proposed framework. That question appeared to hit a nerve.

The president’s precondition, though, collides with a widely recognized diplomatic impasse: the kingdom has consistently insisted it will not establish formal ties with Israel without first achieving Palestinian statehood, a position that has characterized Riyadh’s diplomacy for an extended period.

In sharp contrast, the Netanyahu government has declared repeatedly that it will not permit the establishment of a Palestinian state. The chasm separating these two stances means the enrichment issue remains embedded within a far broader and enduring conflict across the region, a situation no individual agreement can untangle.

By making the nuclear agreement contingent on Saudi Arabia joining the Abraham Accords, Trump has effectively linked its fate to a normalization process that both Riyadh and the Israeli government have set incompatible terms around. That tension underscores the practical hurdle facing the president’s framework.

As of Thursday’s developments, Saudi Arabia had not responded to Trump’s post. The silence leaves open the question of whether the kingdom views the president’s public conditions as a workable basis for moving forward or as an obstacle given its stated demands.

The exchange captures a rare moment of friction between the president and a host on a network he closely follows. Kilmeade did not dispute the broader trajectory of Saudi reform, and he was careful to note the progress the country has made. But his hesitation over enrichment and his pointed uncertainty about the kingdom’s future leadership signaled that even sympathetic voices see real questions in an agreement still very much in flux.
