A woman in her car at an intersection in El Paso, Texas was rescued by bystanders and firefighters moments before her car was mostly swallowed in a massive flooded sinkhole.
The woman was driving her white sedan along Yandell and Gateway South at around 6:40 pm, when a massive sinkhole opened up beneath her car due to the heavy rain the area had received.
A video taken at the scene shows firefighters and volunteers trying to prevent the car from sinking further into the water and rescuers pulling the woman out of the vehicle’s rear window.
Moments later, the rushing water dragged most of the car into the 15-foot sinkhole, with only the back of its trunk visible above the water.
No one was seriously injured, but the woman was transported to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Three firefighters were treated for injuries sustained when they broke the back window.
