A child had to be transported to the hospital after a rollercoaster abruptly stopped and kids were stranded for an hour and a half, mid-air.
Witness said kids were screaming and parents were frantic.
The horror ride happened at the Southport, Merseyside Pleasureland, a theme park in the United Kingdom. The ride was carrying 19 people when it stopped 20 feet in the air. Capacity is 22 riders.
The passengers, mostly kids, were trapped in their seats, some in very uncomfortable positions, as maintenance works tried to free them from the rollercoaster carriages.
Witnesses said the children were “dangling” from the ride.
One girl hit her head and fainted and had to be taken to a local hospital when rescued.
Paramedics treated and examined the other riders and everyone was okay.
Parents on the ride were holding onto their kids for dear life.
The theme park issued an apology and said, “Our immediate priority was looking after everyone’s safe removal from the ride.”
They reassured the public that the maintenance team were doing an investigation into the Rocket Coaster ride and that maintenance checks had been up-to-date. They said that the ride was programmed to stop automatically if there was a detection of a “fault.” They insisted that no one was in danger of falling out of the ride and that the ride carriages weren’t in danger of falling off the tracks.
Other rides were closed at the park, as a precaution.
