A young woman, known on TikTok as an “influencer,” died while skydiving in Toronto on August 27, according to CTV News Toronto.
She opened her parachute too late.
Tanya Pardazi, only 21-years-old, was a University of Toronto philosophy student. She had taken a skydiving course at Skydive Toronto. The course covered fundamentals required to do a 4,000 foot jump.
It was Tanya’s first solo jump.
A Facebook statement by Skydive Toronto said the skydiver “released a quickly rotating main parachute at a low altitude without the time/altitude required for the reserve parachute to inflate.”
Pardazi had 100,000 followers on her TikTok account.
Her friends remembered her as a brave and adventurous person.
Her death follows the death of an 45-year-old Ottawa fireman who died in a skydiving accident in July.
In June, a 28-year-old man lost his life in an accident at a skydiving club in Toronto.
