A father of six was fatally shot while attending his daughter’s high school graduation party in Texas.

Adam Tobias, 35, was shot at a home in Houston in the early hours of Friday, May 26.

Tobias’s daughter, Destiny, who considered her father her closest companion, held his lifeless body in her arms after the shooting.

Neftaly Perez, Tobias’s grief-stricken wife and Destiny’s stepmother, recounted the painful moment when Destiny witnessed her father’s death.

The suspected shooter, 24-year-old Philip Arning, is the estranged boyfriend of Destiny’s biological mother.

The incident occurred at Destiny’s mother’s house, where an argument occurred over Tobias’s presence there. Destiny expressed her frustration, saying that Arning had no right to be at the house.

Destiny’s stepmother, Perez, who had been married to Tobias for 16 years, was not present during the shooting, nor were their five young sons.

Perez accused Arning of taking her husband’s life cold-bloodedly and without warning.

Arning has been released on bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.

A GoFundMe initiative has been established to assist the family in covering funeral costs and has raised over $6,000 to date.
