On June 28, a dispute at a golf course led to the death of an 87-year-old man.

Glenview Country Club in The Villages in central Florida was the site of a disagreement over a car Dean William Zook had accidentally hit, which Robert Edward Moore Jr., 76, initially believed was his.

A witness reported a white male confronting Zook about the incident. The conversation took a violent turn, with Moore striking and violently punching Zook. Moore left after realizing the car that was hit was not his. Following the fight, Zook began to display concerning symptoms and was later found to have sustained a brain bleed. He passed away on July 16.

Moore was pinpointed as the suspect after a media article from November 2022 showcased him in golfing clothing that matched the suspect’s attire reported by witnesses. When questioned, Moore said he thought Zook was attempting to leave the accident scene. He has since been taken into custody and is held at the Sumter County Detention Center, with bail set at $30,000. He has been charged with aggravated manslaughter on an elderly person.

Zook passed away one day before his 88th birthday.
