On Thursday afternoon, August 10, an argument that led to gunfire took place in the men’s restroom of the Bordeaux Branch of the Nashville, Tennessee Public Library on Clarksville Pike.

Metro police have reported that three teens from the same neighborhood are now facing charges.

The situation began when a 14-year-old boy, who had prior disagreements with two brothers aged 15 and 16, entered the library with another 15-year-old boy. The brothers followed them into the library restroom. In the restroom, the 16-year-old accidentally shot himself in the foot and also injured the 14-year-old in the groin. The incident did not involve other library patrons.

Following the shooting, the injured 16-year-old was found on the street and was provided medical care. Library staff assisted the 14-year-old until paramedics arrived. Both teenagers are reportedly on the path to recovery.

Upon investigation, a semi-automatic pistol was found in the possession of the 14-year-old, suggesting he might have discharged it. The firearm’s last registered owner is being determined by federal officials. The brothers are now facing multiple charges, including attempted criminal homicide. The other 15-year-old has been charged with conspiracy, as he seems to have been working with the brothers. The District Attorney’s Office is reviewing charges for the 14-year-old.
