A 14-year-old met with a fatal accident in Seattle, Washington, on July 30.
Xavier Gayton, in town from Arizona, had climbed a downtown building to spray graffiti when he fell and was hit by a passing monorail.
Allison Gardner, Xavier’s mother, shared her anguish with a news outlet, discussing her son’s artistic passion. Xavier, a Washington native, had been living in Arizona for the past nine years and was in Seattle for a summer visit with family. A GoFundMe campaign in his name accumulated about $9,000.
Despite the known dangers of graffiti, it appears that Xavier may not have been fully aware of the risks. The Seattle Fire Department’s rescue efforts were unfortunately not successful. Police have since acquired video footage of Xavier’s involvement in the graffiti.
The Seattle Center Monorail, addressing the incident, reiterated their commitment to safety and assured their cooperation with the police investigation.
