A 16-year-old boy in Aurora, Colorado has been charged with murder following the fatal shooting of a man on August 23.
He was apprehended on Saturday, September 2, and now faces charges of first-degree murder and aggravated robbery.
This incident occurred after an alleged altercation with scooter thieves, as reported by the Aurora Police Department.
The identity of the boy has not been disclosed due to his age.
While the police have not officially named the victim, The Denver Post identified him as Miguel Angel Saucedo Araujo, 49. On the night of August 22, Araujo and his son reportedly confronted people who had taken scooters from their property.
In an attempt to retrieve the stolen items, Araujo and his son pursued the thieves using a pickup truck.
During the chase, shots were directed at their vehicle. Later, after returning to their home, a car passed by their home and fired several shots. One of these bullets hit and killed Araujo.
In connection to this incident, the police have discovered several crime scenes and have also located the stolen scooters in nearby yards. As the investigation is ongoing, more arrests are anticipated.
