On Friday, October 20, in Sanford, Florida, authorities discovered the bodies of five-year-old twins in a home following the death of their mother, who had taken her own life by jumping off a bridge.
The twins were identified as Ahmad and Ava Jackson.
The mother, identified as Catorreia Hutto, 31, was first spotted after her body was recovered from a location below the State Road 417 bridge over Lake Jesup. The circumstances leading to her decision remain unclear. However, according to investigators, it is believed that she took the lives of her twins and then committed suicide.
Following the recovery of Hutto’s body, deputies initiated a wellness check at her home. This check led to the heartbreaking discovery of her twins dead in their bunkbeds. A gun was found in the children’s bedroom, but the children did not appear to be shot.
As investigations continue, the motive behind the mother’s actions is still under scrutiny. Law enforcement has not ruled out any possibilities and hopes the investigation will provide answers.
