Amid the search for Alexander Key, the partner of Mick Jagger’s granddaughter, a body was found in the sea off the coast of Cornwall, England, as confirmed by authorities.
On January 31, 2026, at around 6:30 p.m., a body was discovered in the sea at Bude, prompting officers and HM Coastguard to respond to the scene. At the time of discovery, the man was already deceased.
Although formal identification is still pending, Devon & Cornwall Police believe the body to be that of 37-year-old Alexander Key, who was reported missing since January 24, 2026. Key is known to be in a relationship with Assisi Jackson, 33, the grandchild of Rolling Stones lead singer Mick Jagger, who is now 82.
The authorities have stated that the death does not appear to be suspicious, and a report will be prepared for the coroner’s review. In an official statement, Devon & Cornwall Police relayed that “Mr Key’s family has thanked police and HM Coastguard for their efforts, along with all those who assisted in the search for him. They have asked for their privacy to be respected at this difficult time.”
Key and Jackson are parents to two children. Jackson, daughter of British jeweler Jade Jagger, 54, and granddaughter of Mick Jagger, had Key as a life partner who co-owned The Rocket Store, a seafood restaurant in Boscastle, Cornwall, with head chef Freddie Woodruff. Key was also a professional chef.
Last sighted on January 23, 2026, Key was at the Cobweb Inn, a pub in Boscastle, around 2:30 p.m. Surveillance footage also recorded him at 3:25 p.m. on January 24, passing the Wellington Pub on Old Road, heading towards Boscastle Harbour and the River Valency.
An urgent search operation for Key was initiated by Devon & Cornwall Police due to growing concerns for his well-being. Jade Jagger, Key’s mother-in-law, shared the police appeal on Instagram, helping to raise awareness among her followers.
Boscastle, a quaint coastal village in Cornwall renowned for its historic harbor and breathtaking coastal views, is located at the junction of three valleys, surrounded by high cliffs. The discovery of the body at Bude suggests it was found some distance away from Key’s last known location at Boscastle.
Devon & Cornwall Police, responsible for a vast geographical area in England that includes the counties of Devon and Cornwall, often collaborate with maritime agencies due to their extensive coastline jurisdiction. During the search for Key, a spokesperson expressed increasing concern for his welfare.
The Jagger family has deep roots in Britain’s cultural scene. Rolling Stones founder Mick Jagger and his band have significantly influenced the rock music history. His daughter, Jade Jagger, has made her mark in the world of jewelry design. As Jade’s daughter, Assisi Jackson carries on the legacy of this prominent family.
In England and Wales, police are required to conduct extensive investigations and compile detailed reports for the coroner when deaths occur that do not raise suspicion. The inquest by the coroner is an independent judicial process to determine the identity of the deceased and the circumstances, time, and location of their death.
The process of formal identification involves multiple steps to ensure accuracy, especially in cases where the body has been exposed to water.
