Former Child Star Arrested

Brandon “Bug” Hall, 41, was taken into custody by the Bull Shoals Police Department on April 13, 2026, on an Ohio warrant stemming from his failure to appear in court for a 2024 traffic violation, according to court documents obtained by TMZ.

Hall had been scheduled to appear in court on December 31, 2024, to address a citation he received on October 29, 2024, for driving without liability insurance. When he failed to show up, authorities issued a warrant that led to his arrest more than a year later.

The former child actor rose to fame playing Alfalfa Switzer in the 1994 film “The Little Rascals,” a role that earned him a shared Young Artist Award for Best Performance by a Youth Ensemble when he was just nine years old. Born February 4, 1985, in Fort Worth, Texas, Hall got his nickname “Bug” as a toddler at the daycare center where his mother worked.

His career extended well beyond his breakout role, with appearances in “The Big Green” (1995), “The Stupids” (1996), and the Disney Channel’s “Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves” (1997). Television work included shows like “Walker, Texas Ranger,” “ER,” “Charmed,” “90210,” “Criminal Minds,” “Castle,” and “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.”

Hall also transitioned into behind-the-camera work, serving as executive producer on Netflix’s animated series “A Tale Dark & Grimm,” which debuted in October 2021, and wrote two episodes of the show’s first season.

This latest arrest marks Hall’s second run-in with law enforcement since 2020. In June of that year, police in Weatherford, Texas, responded to a welfare check at a hotel on Fort Worth Highway after reports of a possible overdose. Officers discovered numerous cans of air duster inside the room. A family member had reportedly requested the welfare check. Hall was charged with misdemeanor possession for use to inhale or ingest a volatile chemical and released on $1,500 bond, though the charges were ultimately dropped.

Following that 2020 incident, Hall left Hollywood entirely and moved his family to an 80-acre property near Mountain View, Arkansas, where he now lives with his wife Jill and their five children in what he describes as an intentionally spartan lifestyle.

In a January 2026 interview, Hall characterized himself as a “radical Catholic extremist” who had taken a “vow of poverty” as part of his religious conversion. He said he donated all his Hollywood earnings and gave away most possessions, with his family living in a camper van that depends on a water well and gas-powered generator.

Hall’s monthly expenses consist only of fuel for his vehicle and generator plus approximately $100 to maintain two cellphones. He said he intended to construct a house within six months using his own hydroelectric dam, plumbing, sanitation, and electrical systems to achieve complete self-sufficiency.

“I didn’t want to go work some job that was basically meaningless, making widgets to entertain people or distract people,” Hall explained. “I loved making movies. I loved writing, producing, and acting,” but he rejected making a living from what he called the “manipulation of other people.”

“My goal is to maintain a life as free of any need for an income as possible. If there’s a financial need that comes up, I’ll go take some work or do an odd job, for cash to fulfill that need,” he stated.

Hall’s public persona has sparked controversy in recent years. Twitter banned him in December 2022 after he posted statements supporting marital duty and corporal punishment of minors regarding his daughters. He responded on Instagram: “The truth will always be unpopular. The truthful will always be persecuted. But eternity will always be sweet.”

In September 2024, he faced backlash after referring to his daughters as “dishwashers” in an X post celebrating the birth of his first son, whom he called his “heir.” His social media profiles describe him as a “self-cancelled rascal,” “medieval moralist,” and “a patriarch to five beautiful ladies,” with occasional updates about his off-grid existence shared on YouTube.

The Bull Shoals Police Department released Hall’s mugshot following his arrest. No information about upcoming court dates or resolution of the charges has been publicly disclosed.
