Former Fox News host Megyn Kelly launched a blistering attack on President Donald Trump’s marital history during her May 22, 2026, appearance on the “Hodgetwins Podcast,” declaring that the president has been unfaithful to every woman he has married, including First Lady Melania Trump.
The 55-year-old was responding to Trump’s public criticism of counterterrorism chief Joe Kent, who remarried four years after his first wife, Navy officer Shannon Kent, died in combat in 2019. The president had questioned the timing of Kent’s remarriage.
A Glass House Comparison
“Talk about a glass house!” Kelly told the hosts, according to coverage of the podcast. “Trump has cheated on every wife he’s had. I mean, he met Marla Maples while he was still married to the mother of his children, Ivana. It was all over the New York papers… like, he was proud of the affair!”
She also referenced a decades-old allegation made by Ivana Trump, the president’s first wife, noting that Ivana later retracted the claim — first in 1993, and again during Trump’s 2015 presidential campaign.
Kelly delivered perhaps her sharpest attack when addressing speculation about the current first lady. “If you think Trump’s been faithful to Melania, that’s great. You’ve got bigger issues than I can solve here,” Kelly said.
Trump’s Three Marriages
Trump married Ivana Zelníčková in 1977, and they had three children together: Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump, and Eric Trump. Divorce proceedings began in 1990 and were finalized in 1991, following Trump’s well-documented affair with model and actress Marla Maples.
Trump and Maples married in 1993 and had daughter Tiffany Trump before divorcing in 1999. Trump married Melania Trump in 2005. Their son, Barron Trump, was born in 2006.
Allegations of Trump’s infidelity resurfaced nationally in 2018 when he faced a criminal case over an alleged “hush money” payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels regarding an alleged 2006 sexual encounter — the same year Barron was born.
Melania’s Public Response
The first lady herself has previously addressed rumors about her marriage. During an October 2025 interview on “Good Morning America,” Melania Trump pushed back against media speculation regarding the state of her marriage.
“It is not a concern and focus of mine,” she said at the time. “I’m a mother and a first lady, and I have much more important things to think about and to do. I know people like to speculate, and the media like to speculate about our marriage.”
Not Kelly’s First Critique
Kelly has not hesitated to criticize Trump’s character in the past. As previously reported, she told British media personality Russell Brand on “The Megyn Kelly Show” that Trump has aspects of his “personality which are obviously not good and that we’ve mostly just chosen to overlook.” She called the president “not a moral man” and “not the greatest husband in the world,” describing him as “extremely petty and thin-skinned.”
Her relationship with Trump has been complicated since their famous clashes during the 2016 Republican presidential debate cycle when she was anchoring at Fox News, though they found more common political ground in later years. Her recent remarks indicate she will not hesitate to call out what she perceives as presidential hypocrisy.
The podcast appearance has sparked widespread online debate, with Trump supporters dismissing Kelly’s commentary as opportunistic while Trump detractors praise her for what they view as candor from a prominent conservative media figure. As of June 5, 2026, neither the White House nor representatives for the first lady had issued a formal response to Kelly’s claims.
What remains clear is that Kelly’s words — delivered with characteristic bluntness — have once again injected the president’s personal life into the broader political conversation.
