Chilling New Threat Against Barron Trump’s Life

The U.S. Secret Service says it is aware of a video aired by Iran’s state broadcaster that appears to threaten the life of Barron Trump, the 20-year-old son of President Donald Trump — a nearly three-minute segment titled “Where to kill Barron Trump?!” that closes by dangling a $10 million reward. The agency’s acknowledgment was first reported August 24, 2026.

The Secret Service is aware of the video and investigates anything that can be perceived as a threat toward its protectees, spokesman Nate Herring said in a statement. Citing operational security, Herring declined to discuss matters of protective intelligence, the agency’s standard posture on active threat assessments.

What the Broadcast Showed

The video says it tracks the youngest Trump son’s daily routine and asserts that his movements are under constant watch. It leans heavily on stylized animation, pointing to places he is publicly known to spend time, among them Trump Tower in New York. It also displays renderings of dormitories at the Constance Milstein & Family Global Academic Center, the New York University (NYU) campus in Washington where he transferred last year, according to a translation of the broadcast.

On air, the program also claimed to have turned up his Xbox, FIFA video game and Discord accounts, plus accounts belonging to classmates — naming two of them. In one animated sequence, a hooded figure studies photographs of Barron Trump. Another dramatized passage imagines identifying the friends around him and breaching the rings of Secret Service protection that guard the first family.

As the segment winds down, the narrator says plenty of people would be eager to collect the $10 million, then signs off: “This is just the beginning! Barron Trump, wait for us!” Outlets tied to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) helped spread the footage.

No Evidence Behind the Claims

None of it stands up to outside scrutiny. Not the reward. Not the surveillance. Not the material said to have been pulled from the accounts of Barron Trump’s classmates. Built almost entirely on dramatized graphics and menacing narration, the report gives no indication that anyone has gotten close to the president’s son, a college student at NYU.

That gap between spectacle and substance is a hallmark of the genre. What sets this installment apart is its target. Earlier threats have been aimed at First Lady Melania Trump; naming the couple’s son in such a broadcast appears to be new territory.

A Pattern of Threats From Tehran

Hard-line Iranian media have repeatedly aired content threatening President Trump and members of his family since the assassination of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s former supreme leader. Khamenei and many of his relatives were killed at the outset of the U.S.-Israeli war with Iran in February 2026, the conflict Trump launched alongside Israel.

Since then, the messaging has grown more personal, shifting from the president himself to the people closest to him. The Barron Trump video escalates that pattern, naming a college student, depicting his campus and inviting strangers to act.

Security concerns around the president have surfaced in other episodes as well. Reports have described Trump using an elaborate ruse to fly out of Turkey following a summit because of an Iran-related threat.

Sanctions and a Stalled War

The broadcast surfaced as Washington prepared to lay out a sweeping new economic pressure campaign against Tehran. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced new sanctions designed to choke off Iran’s revenue streams, part of an escalating financial squeeze that has accompanied the diplomatic stalemate.

The timing is delicate. As of August 25, a 60-day deadline for a peace deal with Iran was expiring, and the two governments remained far apart on how to end a war that has ground into stasis. Iran’s president has said a U.S. memorandum offers the best way out. Reporting on the country’s enriched uranium stockpile, meanwhile, has undercut Trump’s claim that Iran was essentially denuclearized — a point that continues to shadow the administration’s account of what the campaign achieved.

For the Secret Service, none of that geopolitical context changes the immediate assignment: assess the threat quietly and say little in public. Whether the Iranian segment amounts to psychological theater or something more, it has now been folded into the protective intelligence file surrounding a 20-year-old whose name had largely stayed out of Tehran’s crosshairs until this month.
