Linda Perhacs, an 82-year-old psychedelic folk artist whose cult classic album went decades without recognition before gaining a devoted following, has been located and confirmed safe, her former manager announced on July 30, 2026. The discovery followed a widespread public search that mobilized fans, musicians and authorities after the singer disappeared from contact for roughly eight months.
Laurel Stearns, who previously managed Perhacs, announced that law enforcement had verified the artist’s safety following police reports submitted by concerned friends and collaborators who had been unable to reach her. “We are grateful to share that singer-songwriter Linda Perhacs has been located and is safe,” Stearns said.
An Instagram statement posted to the artist’s official account on Thursday, July 30, revealed that Perhacs is now residing in a new care facility. The post acknowledged the collective efforts of those who rallied to ensure her protection.
The Search Effort
Concerns mounted after Perhacs departed a residential care facility late last year under the supervision of her legal guardian. Holter was among those who participated in the search effort.
The renewed interest eventually coaxed Perhacs back into the studio. Working with Stearns, she released her second album, “The Soul of All Natural Things,” in 2014, breaking a multi-decade recording hiatus. She followed with a third record, “I’m a Harmony,” in 2017.
