Online, the jokes ran in another direction. A September 15 write-up pointed to a reaction thread on Reddit’s r/travisandtaylor, where a user captioned a photo of the pair: “Cult leader 🤝 cult leader enjoying a very engrossing chat at tonight’s Chiefs game in KC.” The commentary played on Cruise’s Scientology ties, with no evidence tying Swift to it.

A Suite Seat Beside a Movie Star

Cruise was at Arrowhead because Swift invited him, bringing the movie icon to the opener as a special guest. One account described her outfit as a red-and-cream polo dress from Guest in Residence, paired with her signature lipstick. In the league’s clip she sips a drink as she talks with the actor, who has said he had not been to an NFL game since before the pandemic. Photographers got the pair toward the end of the first quarter, with Swift in her usual spot — the luxury suite belonging to Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

Neither of them stayed seated long. Hugs and high-fives followed every Kansas City score, and the cameras kept catching Swift celebrating touchdowns with the movie star at her side. The Chiefs gave them plenty of chances.

There was an extra layer to the night. It marked Swift’s first major public outing since she and Kelce tied the knot in early July 2026, and Cruise had been one of the A-list guests at that wedding — which made the suite pairing read as a reunion rather than a seating-chart accident.

Cruise Gives Fallon the Backstory

Monday’s game also explains why she was nowhere near a red carpet. Swift chose Arrowhead over the 2026 Emmy Awards, yet still made the telecast: a pre-recorded sketch on NBC’s Emmys broadcast featured her and worked in several references to her husband. She has grown friendly, too, with Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his wife, Brittany Mahomes.

Mahomes Returns, Walker Runs Wild

The football gave Kansas City a comeback and a debut. Mahomes took the field again after tearing his ACL and LCL in December 2025, and he looked like himself, completing 15 of 27 passes for 184 yards with an interception. Kelce Climbs the All-Time List

Kelce left with something to celebrate as well. His 71 receiving yards moved him to 13,079 for his career and to No. 2 on the all-time list among tight ends, past former Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten, who finished with 13,046.
