A 13-year-old student met with a fatal accident on a bus after leaving school.
The incident occurred as Fernanda Pacheco Ferraz, who studied at Professor Carlos Côrtes State College near Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, leaned out of a window on the bus to bid her friends farewell, and her head collided with a pole. The bus, which was headed to the Catarcione neighborhood in Nova Friburgo, had swerved abruptly on the narrow street to avoid traffic, resulting in the tragic accident.
The bus driver, employed for 13 years at the Nova Faol bus company, immediately responded to the passenger alerts about the accident. But by the time first responders arrived, Fernanda had already died from her severe head wound.
The driver conveyed his remorse over the incident, pledging full cooperation in any forthcoming investigation.
Education authorities offered their condolences and support, suspending classes for two days in her memory. Ferraz’s funeral was held at the Trilha do Céu cemetery.
