Angelina Jolie, the acclaimed actress and humanitarian, has publicly disclosed her future intentions following her divorce from actor Brad Pitt. The couple, parents to six children, tied the knot in 2014 after nearly a decade together, only to separate abruptly in 2016. Jolie initiated the divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences.”
The separation was marked by allegations of physical abuse by Pitt towards Jolie and their eldest child, Maddox, during an incident on a private plane in September 2016. While Pitt, aged 59, acknowledged having shouted at Maddox, he denied any physical harm. The FBI subsequently cleared him of these allegations. The contentious divorce involved disputes over shared assets and custody, leading to a drawn-out and highly publicized process.
In a December 5, 2023, interview with The Wall Street Journal, Jolie revealed her plan to leave Los Angeles once the divorce is finalized. She described Hollywood as “shallow” and expressed a yearning for “authenticity.” Her perspective has been significantly influenced by her visits to refugee camps, her work with the United Nations, and her experiences adopting three of her six children from orphanages in Cambodia, Ethiopia, and Vietnam.
Jolie, 48, stated that her decision to relocate is primarily driven by her affinity with refugees and individuals who have endured significant hardships. She feels a deeper connection and comfort among people who have faced serious life challenges. Furthermore, the limitations imposed by her divorce have thus far restricted her ability to travel and live freely, keeping her in Los Angeles. Post-divorce, Jolie is considering a move to Cambodia.
On the professional front, Jolie confirmed her participation in a third “Maleficent” movie and is involved in several upcoming projects, including “Maria,” “Every Note Played,” and “Maude v Maude.” She is also set to voice a character in “Kung Fu Panda 4.”
