Jake Hall, the towering reality star who rose to fame on “The Only Way Is Essex,” has died at the age of 35 after what Spanish investigators believe was a freak accident at a holiday villa on the island of Majorca.
Officers from the Spanish Civil Guard discovered the 6ft 4ins former footballer and model in a pool of blood at a rented property in Santa Margalida, in the north of the island, after being called to the scene at around 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2026. His death was reported the following day.
Hall had suffered catastrophic head wounds, and detectives say their working theory is that he smashed into a glass door during a party that had spilled into the early hours, with shards of glass causing the fatal injuries. An autopsy is due to take place in the Majorcan capital, Palma, as inquiries continue.
What Investigators Believe Happened
According to a report citing a police source, Hall and a group of friends had been out in the evening and continued partying after returning to the villa in the early hours. At some point, the mood inside the property soured.
“It appears from what police have been told that he became agitated, possibly from alcohol and other substances he may have consumed,” a source close to the inquiry said. Investigators were also told that things briefly “turned aggressive” and that Hall may have tried to harm himself by banging his head against objects in the villa before the fatal collision with the glass.
Four men and two women staying at the house were questioned by officers. Authorities have not released their nationalities. No arrests are believed to have been made.
Neighbors described an unsettling soundscape in the hours before police arrived, telling local reporters they heard noises loud enough to make the walls vibrate. One resident said the group “hadn’t been causing problems” earlier in the night and seemed “relatively normal,” and that he overheard them talking in English about buying a property in the area. Then, he said, the noise changed: “I began to hear a very loud noise, as if they were drilling something. They stopped after about five minutes and then I fell asleep.”
From Essex to Reality TV Stardom
Hall grew up in Essex and broke through on the ITVBe juggernaut “The Only Way Is Essex” in 2015, quickly becoming one of the show’s best-known cast members. Tall, photogenic and brash, he embodied the brand of post-clubbing glamour that made the series a fixture of British popular culture.
In recent years he had reinvented himself, splitting his time between the U.K. and Spain while pursuing a career as an artist and fashion entrepreneur. Majorca had become a second home for him, a base for both work and leisure, and friends say it was there that he had begun to find a quieter rhythm than the one that made him famous.
That reinvention was visible in his final Instagram post, shared just hours before his death. Set to the Rolling Stones’ “Beast of Burden,” the post showed Hall painting, taking in the Spanish countryside and dabbling in fashion. “Life is bollocks sometimes but I’m gonna try remember the good things, looking through things. I’m just making art, in many forms,” he wrote.
A Turbulent Personal Life
Hall’s private life had often played out in public. He had been in an on-off relationship since 2016 with Missé Beqiri, formerly of “The Real Housewives of Cheshire.” Their daughter, River, was born in November 2017, and the couple became engaged in May 2018.
The relationship was punctuated by tense disputes. In December 2018, Hall was given a restraining order following an explosive row that was overheard by neighbors, and he and Beqiri later split. Friends say the pair had remained connected through their daughter.
Tributes began rolling in within hours of the news breaking. Legendary DJ Fat Tony was among the first to post publicly about the loss, leading a wave of grief from across the British entertainment world. Fellow TOWIE alumni and figures from the London nightlife scene followed throughout Thursday.
Investigation Continues in Majorca
British diplomats are working with Spanish authorities as the inquiry unfolds. A Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office spokesperson said officials were “supporting the family of a British man who has died in Spain” and were “in contact with the local authorities.”
For now, investigators are treating the death as a tragic accident, though officials have cautioned it is too early to draw firm conclusions. The autopsy in Palma is expected to provide clearer answers in the coming days.
What is already clear is the shape of what has been lost: a young father, a reality television star who had survived the spotlight long enough to start building something new, and a 35-year-old man whose final post asked only to be remembered for the good things.
