Trump Attacked by Rosie O’Donnell in Explosive Meltdown

The long-running back-and-forth between President Trump and Rosie O’Donnell shows no signs of cooling off, with the comedian’s latest viral social media post once again putting the decades-old feud back in the spotlight.

On May 25, 2026, O’Donnell posted a new video taking aim at the president, describing him as “getting crazier by the day” and “deluded.” The clip quickly took off, racking up more than 263,000 views and reigniting a rivalry that, remarkably, dates back nearly two decades.

A Viral Video Reignites the Feud

O’Donnell, 64, has made no secret of her feelings about the president since relocating to Ireland five days before Trump was inaugurated in January 2025. From her new home in Dublin, she has continued to weigh in on American politics with regularity — and her latest video is just the most recent example.

The comedian has said the move abroad has been good for her well-being. “It’s not easy to move to another country, and we really felt as a family this was the safest and best thing for us to do,” she said earlier this year, adding that she has been “sleeping better without the stress and anxiety over what was happening politically in the country.”

Quiet Returns to the U.S.

Despite vowing not to return to the United States while Trump is in office, O’Donnell has quietly made the trip twice. In February 2026, she made a first low-profile visit, partly to see how easy it would be to come and go given the president’s prior threats to revoke her citizenship.

Then in April, she returned again — this time for a much happier reason: to meet her newborn grandson. She has been raising her youngest child, Clay, in Ireland, where she is also pursuing Irish citizenship.

Iran Strikes and an Impeachment Hashtag

The feud took a sharper turn in March, when O’Donnell publicly criticized the president over U.S. military action against Iran. After U.S. and Israeli forces carried out airstrikes targeting the country, and Trump announced that Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had been killed, O’Donnell went on the offensive.

On March 2, she shared a pointed post contrasting the strikes with Trump’s 2024 campaign promises to avoid new wars, captioning it, “He lies only and always #impeachtrump.” The post paired two of Trump’s own campaign statements, including his pledge, “I’m not going to start a war, I’m going to stop wars.”

The president has had his own moments of weighing in. During Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin’s St. Patrick’s Day visit to the White House in March, Trump brought up O’Donnell after a reporter asked Martin why he would allow her to relocate to Ireland. Trump joked that the Irish leader was “better off” not knowing who she was.

Two Decades of Public Sparring

The feud goes back to 2006, when O’Donnell, then a co-host on “The View,” criticized Trump during a Hot Topics segment over his handling of a controversy involving Miss USA winner Tara Conner. Trump fired back by calling her “a woman out of control,” and the two have been trading jabs ever since.

O’Donnell has said she remains genuinely surprised that the back-and-forth has lasted this long. “He’s been doing it for two decades, and I’m still not used to it every time he does,” she said in a previous interview, noting that the president “sort of uses me as a punchline whenever he feels the need.”

For his part, Trump escalated things in July 2025 when he floated the idea of revoking her citizenship. “As previously mentioned, we are giving serious thought to taking away Rosie O’Donnell’s Citizenship,” he wrote on social media, calling her “a Threat to Humanity” who “should remain in the wonderful Country of Ireland.” O’Donnell pushed back with her trademark defiance, daring the administration to try.

Trying — and Failing — to Log Off

Even O’Donnell has acknowledged that the constant online sparring takes a toll. In a December 8, 2025 interview discussing her habits, she revealed that a longtime friend urged her to “detach” and “disconnect” from social media around Thanksgiving. The cleanse lasted only hours. A follow-up plan to stay offline for three days also ended early.

The trigger that time? Trump’s exchange with Bloomberg reporter Catherine Lucey, whom he told to be “quiet, piggy” when she pressed him on the Epstein files. For O’Donnell, staying silent simply wasn’t an option.

With both figures showing no interest in stepping away from their respective megaphones, the O’Donnell–Trump dynamic looks set to keep generating headlines well into the rest of the year. As O’Donnell herself put it, after 20 years, she’s still not used to it — but she’s also not going anywhere.
