Jennifer Lopez Breaks Silence About Ben Affleck Divorce

Jennifer Lopez is redefining what it means to walk away from a marriage, challenging the idea that the end of a relationship represents failure rather than growth — a perspective shaped in part by her divorce from Ben Affleck, which was finalized in 2025.

During a June 30 interview on the internet talk show “Subway Takes,” the 56-year-old singer and actress sat down with host Kareem Rahma, 39, to discuss heartbreak, personal evolution, and the qualities she values in a romantic partner.

What She’s Looking for in Love

When Rahma pressed Lopez on what she finds attractive, she dismissed physical traits entirely. Whether someone is thin or heavy, bearded or clean-shaven, matters little to her — character is what counts.

Lopez told Rahma, “I like the person inside.”

The comment carried both simplicity and weight, reflecting decades spent under intense public scrutiny of her romantic choices. While Lopez did not close the door on future relationships during the “Subway Takes” conversation, she made clear her standards are exacting.

Celebrating Endings, Not Mourning Them

Lopez rejected the cultural tendency to view breakups as defeats. Instead, she framed them as pivotal moments that demand the kind of honest self-assessment rarely prompted by stability or comfort.

Society treats endings as tragedies when they should be recognized as acts of courage worthy of congratulations, not pity, she argued. Leaving a relationship often demands more strength than remaining in one, Lopez explained, and those who habitually break hearts ultimately endure deeper suffering than those whose hearts are broken.

Her most meaningful growth, both romantic and professional, has emerged from painful experiences rather than easy ones, Lopez said. Hardship forces the kind of reflection on patterns and decisions that comfort does not, making discomfort indispensable for genuine transformation.

A History of High-Profile Relationships

Lopez’s perspective arrives with substantial personal history. She and Affleck reunited in 2021, nearly two decades after ending their first engagement in 2004. The couple married in 2022, but the divorce was finalized in 2025.

Her marriage to Anthony spanned a decade, from 2004 through 2014, and produced 18-year-old twins Max and Emme. Lopez was also previously married to Cris Judd and Ojani Noa, a romantic history she has consistently addressed openly.

During a May 2026 appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” Lopez confirmed she is single. A source close to her said she feels fulfilled on her own and does not regard being unpartnered as a void in her life.

Co-Star Goldstein Calls Her ‘Underrated’

Following their collaboration in “Office Romance,” the romantic comedy directed by Ol Parker, brief dating speculation surrounded Lopez and Brett Goldstein, 45. The two attended the film’s June 2, 2026, premiere in New York City together, though no romantic relationship developed beyond their professional partnership.

Goldstein, recognized for playing Roy Kent on “Ted Lasso,” lauded Lopez in an Extra interview, describing her as underrated as an actress and saying their time working together revealed her considerable talent.
