Donald Trump fumed that losing the Nobel Peace Prize had left a permanent mark on Norway, and Jimmy Kimmel hit back with a joke about the president’s diaper.
Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel answered President Donald Trump’s complaint that the Nobel Peace Prize snub left an indelible stain on Norway with a line of his own on Monday, Oct. 12, 2026: “Not as indelible as the stain you made on your diaper when they announced it.”
The monologue on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on ABC walked viewers through Trump’s multiday reaction to being passed over for the prize — a roughly 600-word Truth Social post, followed by a weekend post that spelled the award “Noble.”
The Norwegian Nobel Committee announced Friday, Oct. 9, that Navanethem “Navi” Pillay, 85, a South African lawyer, had won the 2026 prize. Pillay served as U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights and was a judge at the International Criminal Court. She now sits as an ad hoc judge at the International Court of Justice. Trump had other ideas about who should have been holding the medal.
Twice as Long as Gettysburg
Trump’s post ran about 590 words, and Kimmel put it on screen for reference.
Trump wrote of having “settled eight Wars, and many other things,” and added, “in actuality, I should have won 8 Nobel Peace Prizes, not just 1.” By Kimmel’s count, the eight-war tally was worked in seven separate times.
“What better way to deserve a Nobel Prize than attacking the woman who won it at midnight in a social media post that is twice as long as the Gettysburg Address,” Kimmel jabbed.
Trump returned to the subject Saturday, Oct. 10. “Yet, with all of that I, or the United States of America, did not get the Noble Peace Prize. WOW!” he wrote. The same post also read: “I settled 8 WARS, am close to ending or settling 2 more.”
That misspelling sent Kimmel after Natalie Harp, the fiercely loyal aide who earns $150,000 a year as a special assistant to the president. “Do you think Natalie misspells the word ‘Nobel’ on purpose?” he asked.
Boos Greet the Syracuse Clip
Kimmel rolled clips from Trump’s campaign rally in Syracuse, N.Y., on Friday, Oct. 9. “The United States of America, represented by me as your president, should have received the Nobel Peace Prize, but didn’t,” Trump told the crowd there.
Trump also blasted “those people that made such a disgraceful and embarrassing decision.” Kimmel’s studio audience booed as the clip played, and the host deadpanned that he, too, was upset Trump hadn’t won. “I hope you’re happy you made our baby cry,” Kimmel said to the country.
Trump’s anger at Norway missed its mark: the independent Norwegian Nobel Committee chooses the prize, and it is not affiliated with the Norwegian government.
Trump declared at the rally that there should have been eight Nobel prizes for each war. Kimmel did the math: “He means he should have 64 Nobel prizes! Minus 8 for the war we started, that’s an even 56,” he joked. He was unsure, he said, which was more alarming — that Trump was upset he didn’t win, or that he was surprised.
Kimmel’s Own Peace Prize Pick
Kimmel’s own pick for an American deserving a peace prize was Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., shown in a clip looking frail. “He loves peace. Peace is all he talks about,” Kimmel said.
New White House press secretary Katie Zacharia, a former Newsmax commentator, drew another pass. “She has blonde hair. She can do a thumbs-up. End of list,” said Kimmel.
The real wonder, Kimmel said, is that the world’s most powerful person behaves like “such a petty little b****” at all times.
Trump Calls Kimmel a Loser
The feud runs both ways. Trump called Kimmel a loser at a Tennessee rally in Clarksville on Saturday, Oct. 10. “This loser, Jimmy Kimmel. What a loser,” Trump said. Kimmel’s answer: “Of all the things I said about him last week, of all the many moronic and criminal words and deeds I detailed, that’s what bothers him?”
Kimmel cheerfully returned to the empty seats at Trump’s rallies, including the one where the president complained about the claim. “He keeps claiming the reason there are empty seats in the back and the top is because the people love him so much they make their way down to the front. Isn’t it interesting that that never happens at a Lakers game?” he added.
On the eve of the announcement, Kimmel had said, “Everything you need to know about Donald Trump’s brain can be explained by the fact that he believes he should win a Nobel Prize for peace seven months after starting a war for no reason,” adding, “I know you were really good this year. I know you only bombed 10 fishermen and one school.”
