Trump Signs BIG Deal With Jaw-Dropping Typo

Days after President Donald Trump signed an agreement with six technology executives that misspells the name of his own country directly beneath his signature, he announced the formation of a “Super Intelligence Force” in a Truth Social post on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2026.

Under Trump’s signature, the White House Accord on Super Intelligence reads “Unites States” — a one-letter slip that has overshadowed the substance of the pact.

Consumers, public interest groups, religious organizations, critical infrastructure providers and super intelligence companies will all be part of the federal engagement coordinated by the new Super Intelligence Force, or SIF, Trump said. In the same post, he said the group will coordinate federal efforts to “ensure that America continues to lead the World in Super Intelligence, which many say is bigger than the Industrial Revolution, and the Internet.”

Trump first announced plans for an AI force in September, writing on Truth Social that he would not allow the “decimation, or destruction, of AI,” and that he would appoint an AI “czar,” adding, “Only High I.Q. individuals need apply!”

He wrote in the Truth Social post that the SIF will be led by the “Director of National Intelligence, Jay Clayton, Chairman of the Federal Trade Commission, Andrew Ferguson, Under Secretary of War for Research and Engineering, and Chief Technology Officer, Emil Michael, and Director of the Office of Personnel Management, Scott Kupor, and will report to the President of the United States (ME!), and the Chief of Staff, Susie Wiles.”

Michael’s title is in dispute. Some accounts give it as “under secretary of defense for research and engineering and chief technology officer.” Other accounts, and Trump’s quoted Truth Social post, give it as “Under Secretary of War.”

Clayton said the Super Intelligence Force will examine existing law and weigh what Congress could do, pointing in an interview with The Wall Street Journal to finance, where regulators such as the Federal Reserve and the Securities and Exchange Commission worked out risk models together with industry. Clayton has been described as “AI Czar.”

As of Oct. 5 the White House had not said what powers or oversight duties the group will have, and Trump’s post set no timeline.

A One-Letter Slip

Trump signed the accord with the six technology executives at the White House on Tuesday, Sept. 29, announcing it after a White House luncheon with top tech executives. The agreement went up on his Truth Social account that same day, and online it spread rapidly with the misspelling intact.

Within hours, social media users and politicians had seized on the flub, California Gov. Gavin Newsom among them. Nobody has made clear how the error got into the signature block. Whether the version that appears in the Federal Register will look the same remains unclear as well.

Trump said of the signing: “It’s almost like a constitution in a way.” He calls the pact “morally binding,” and he has described it as a landmark moment of cooperation between Washington and Silicon Valley.

Who Signed the Accord

Four chief executives signed in their companies’ top role: Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang. Greg Brockman of OpenAI also signed, as did SpaceX CEO Elon Musk. Accounts of the signing describe Musk’s affiliation in conflicting ways, labeling him SpaceX CEO in some and “xAI Founder” in others. Listed as signatory companies are Google, Anthropic, Meta, OpenAI, xAI and NVIDIA.

Regular meetings to develop safety standards and best practices are what the participating companies agreed to. Another name for the document is the Joint Commitment on Frontier Responsibilities.

Strong internal processes and controls, so that systems behave the way their builders intend, make up the core ask of companies. Signatories must bring in an independent external auditor, according to the accord, and set up board-level oversight. That requirement appears in the text as designating an independent committee of the board “to oversee and receive reports from the teams operating the controls.”

The accord lays out controls and audits in four layers. The first is internal safety monitoring during model training. The second is an internal team empowered to confirm the first layer is working. The third gives an outside auditor the ability to independently assess a company’s safety controls. The fourth has each firm designate an independent board to review reports on those controls.

The Council on Foreign Relations noted the major labs likely already have internal safety monitoring during training, and that it has not prevented testing failures to date.

No Enforcement Mechanism

Government has no place in the framework, and federal regulators figure in none of the listed controls. Nowhere does the text commit anyone to publicly release findings of independent evaluations. Companies look free to pick their own evaluators, name their own oversight boards, and settle for themselves whether results get published. The pact carries no enforcement mechanism and no legal weight. Trump has pitched the voluntary commitment as a self-policing arrangement.

Exiger CEO Brandon Daniels attended the Sept. 29 White House meeting. Participants agreed to be bound by a set of superseding governance principles and plan to codify them within their organizations, he told NewsNation, listing quality assurance and safety reviews, independent audits, board-level oversight and a potential central body to govern super intelligence.

Major AI companies’ products hacked into outside organizations during safety testing in a run of incidents, and the industry’s safety record is back under public scrutiny as a result. Lawmakers, researchers and even some AI firms have called for more government oversight. Trump has broadly rejected calls to slow down, citing competition with China and the risk to economic growth. His administration has drawn the alignment of much of the tech sector, which has lobbied against strict regulatory oversight on the grounds it would hobble the economy.

From AI to SI

Trump also signed an executive order on Sept. 29 replacing the term “Artificial Intelligence” with “Super Intelligence” throughout the executive branch. The order directs every department and agency to use “Super Intelligence” and “SI” in official correspondence, public communications, policy documents and non-statutory documents, and it directs agencies to stop acknowledging the terms “Artificial Intelligence” and “AI” altogether.

The order instructs the Assistant to the President for Science and Technology to submit proposed legislative language within 60 days to formally establish a federal definition of “super intelligence.” It defines “super intelligence” as covering the same technologies and systems already captured by the existing statutory definition of artificial intelligence.

Musk posted on X on Oct. 4: “No more AI, SI, It’s better.” In a separate post he wrote: “I love SI slopcore.” Musk also said SpaceX’s AI unit, SpaceXAI, will be renamed SpaceXSI following the Sept. 29 executive order, replying “Yes, we will make that change” to a user on X who asked about the switch over the weekend of Oct. 3-4. As of Oct. 5 the SpaceXAI account name had not been updated.

A White House fact sheet titled “President Donald J. Trump Inaugurates The Era of Super Intelligence” carries the date Sept. 29 and argues the new name better captures what the technology can do. The document says the United States has led the field for more than 70 years. It credits Trump with scrapping what it describes as the overreaching and harmful SI policies of the Biden administration as soon as he returned to office. It points to more than $5 billion announced for the Genesis Mission, which it describes as a national push to accelerate breakthroughs in science, medicine, energy and manufacturing, and to the more than 90 federal actions identified in America’s AI Action Plan, released in July 2025.

Earlier on Sept. 29, Trump previewed the rebrand at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C., where he unveiled America.gov, a website billed as an AI-powered one-stop shop for federal services and information. He had teased the “super intelligence” label at the United Nations General Assembly.

The most-shared line from the rollout is not a policy provision. It is the single wrong letter in the name of the president’s own country.
